IWM London Preparing to Open WWI Galleries
Date Posted: 04/06/14
To mark the centenary of World War I, the Imperial War Museum (IWM) London is setting up a series of new galleries that examine the conflict in detail.
These displays are new permanent exhibits at the museum and will give visitors a real insight into various aspects of the war.
For instance, the gallery entitled Shock will look at trench warfare and what the trench network was actually like, while in the At All Costs exhibition you can find out how life carried on at home and look at the role women played in the war effort.
There are numerous interactive exhibits, including the Supply Line that shows just what was involved in providing food and equipment to the soldiers at the front, as well as items that have never been displayed before - such as objects from the famous Christmas Truce.
If you’re planning a weekend break in London later this summer and are keen to see something thought provoking, the IVM is a good place to visit. The new World War I exhibits will be open to the public from Saturday July 19th.
