Greta Scacchi and Anita Dobson to star in Bette & Joan
Date Posted: 05/04/11
Greta Scacchi and Anita Dobson have been cast in the lead roles of upcoming play Bette & Joan, which opens at the Arts theatre later this year.
Fans of London theatre breaks will get to see the rivalry between actresses Bette Davis and Joan Crawford unfold, focussing on the pair meeting on the set of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Directed by Bill Alexander, the production shows how after high-tension for 30 years, the pair actually have more in common than they first thought.
Scacchi has limited stage experience, starring in 2008's Deep Blue Sea at the Vaudeville, however, she is well known for appearances on the screen, including The Browning Version and Brideshead Revisited.
A former star of Eastenders in the role of Angie, Dobson has worked on a number of National Theatre productions, receiving an Olivier nomination for her work in Frozen.
Bette & Joan runs between Wednesday May 11th and Saturday June 25th, and follows on at the same venue from A Guide to Sexual Misery by Wolfgang Weinberger.
