The Great Yorkshire Show hits Harrogate
Date Posted: 07/06/12
England's premier annual agricultural Mecca, the Great Yorkshire Show returns to Harrogate in West Yorkshire this summer.
Farmers and agricultural enthusiasts alike should book Harrogate hotels for Tuesday, July 10th to Thursday, July 12th to attend the occasion at the Great Yorkshire Showground.
There is all manner of events taking place at the show, including sheep shearing competitions, a Ukrainian Cossacks display, Cock o' the North show jumping and the opportunity to ride around in a mini digger or dumper truck.
The Cock o' the North in particular attracts big name international competitors in the equestrian world and provides an excellent climax to the three day event.
Harrogate first hosted the Great Yorkshire Show in 1951 when the Yorkshire Agricultural Society wanted a permanent showground to improve and develop agriculture in the county and nationwide. Since then it has grown from strength to strength, with a record 135,111 people attending in 2006.
