Goran Ivanisevic takes Masters title at Royal Albert Hall
Date Posted: 06/12/10
Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic has won his first AEGON Masters Tennis trophy after defeating US star Todd Martin at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Croatian bossed the contest through his big, powerful serves and ran out a convincing winner, claiming the two sets 6-2 and 6-4.
Martin launched a comeback in the second set, however, with Ivanisevic needing to break to win the match, he hit a couple of stunning backhand returns down the line to guarantee the trophy.
Speaking after the match in front of those on city breaks at the London venue, Ivanisevic said: "I'm just so happy I finally won this tournament. The first set today was probably the best set I played this week. The rhythm on my serve was great, I returned well from the back and I also felt good physically."
Other players who have taken part in the Royal Albert Hall tournament this week, include Pat Rafter, Tim Henman and Pat Cash.
