Goodnight Mister Tom moves to West End
Date Posted: 03/09/12
David Wood's Goodnight Mister Tom is set to move to the West End's Phoenix Theatre later on this year for a limited run.
Fans of Michelle Magorian's classic novel should book theatre breaks in London between Thursday, November 22nd and Monday, January 28th to catch the Angus Jackson production.
Starring Olivier Award-winning actor Oliver Ford Davies, Goodnight Mister Tom tells the tale of William Beech who is evacuated from his family home to the English countryside during the Blitz of World War II. While away he ends up building a fascinating friendship with the elderly hermit Tom Oakley.
Davies has previously played the role of Beech at the Chichester Festival Theatre and has recently been seen in the Royal Shakespeare Company's Written on the Heart at the Duchess Theatre.
The play will follow the end of 20-year run of the award-winning musical Blood Brothers after more than 10,000 performances.
