Glasgow offers many cultural highlights in the coming months

There is a wide selection of exciting events and festivals taking place in Glasgow over the coming months, with something to satisfy anyone's taste.
The Essence of Beauty: 500 Years Italian Art is taking place at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum from now until Sunday, August 12th. It is regarded as the most comprehensive collection of Renaissance and Baroque works in the UK, with a remarkable numbers of artists' work on show.
People looking for musical city breaks should head to Glasgow between Friday, June 1st and Sunday, June 24th for the West End Festival. Classical, choral, folk, rock and jazz fans will all have plenty to see across more than 600 events in the city.
Lastly, the Merchant City Festival takes place from Saturday, July 21st to Tuesday, 24th July. It brings out the true fun of the city with street art, dance, theatre, film and comedy in Glasgow's cultural quarter.
"Glasgow’s current vibrant arts scene demonstrates that the city’s creativity is a continuum," said Amy Riddell, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau spokesperson.
"This has been further reinforced by Glasgow being awarded the accolade of UNESCO City of Music and appointed to its Creative Cities Network."
