New York City may be known the city stateside that never sleeps, but here in Europe tourists should make a beeline to Barcelona if they are truly looking for fun, according to a tourism expert.
Renowned travel journalist and author, Anna Nicholas, explained that the Catalan capital has everything that revellers on short breaks could want.
Shopping, visiting tourist attractions and exploring the peculiar and quirky districts of the city, such as Eixample, make for great fun when the sun is up.
Then as soon as dusk hits, there are countless fantastic bars, nightclubs and restaurants to entertain people at after dark.
"Barcelona is undoubtedly a party town," said Ms Nicholas.
"It’s a city that never sleeps and embraces fiestas and events all year round. Much as young visitors love it, many older visitors enjoy the cultural aspects too."
She recommends visitors head to see La Sagrada Familia, the Gaudi designed church that had been under construction for 140 years. For family-oriented fun, she recommends heading to the Barcelona Zoo.
