Folio Prize Festival Planned for London
Date Posted: 27/01/14
The Folio Society, alongside The British Library, have arranged a festival themed around the Folio Prize, which is set to take place in London on March 8th and 9th this year.
The Folio Prize is an award for stand-out fiction written in English and judges for the prize, as well as authors who have been shortlisted, are set to be involved in the upcoming festival. This will take place during the weekend that leads up to the announcement of who has won the first prize.
Themes to be explored by the events of the festival will be fiction's voice, place, genre, structure and context.
It will kick off March 8th with poet Lavinia Greenlaw, Ali Smith (whose books include The Accidental) and others discussing the issue of fictional voice in a session kicking off at 11.30 GMT.
Other events include people such as Nam Le and Sebastian Faulks discussing place later in the day and Mark Haddon, Michael Chabon and others talking about genre on the Sunday.
The British Library will be home to the exhibition 'Beautiful Science: Picturing Data, Inspiring Insight' at the time of the festival.
