Families should look at 'inventive' holiday destinations
Date Posted: 01/09/11

Families looking to get away on a budget have been told to consider 'inventive' short breaks where they do not need to spend much money at their destination.
Amanda Lamb, presenter of A Place in the Sun and speaking on behalf of MasterCard Prepaid, said that locations where there are things to do in the local surroundings, such as countryside to explore, should all be looked at.
"When we were kids we never went anywhere that actually cost lots of money, yet we seemed to spend hours of fun on a beach. Be a bit more inventive where you take your kids," she added.
Ms Lamb went on to say that European destinations are ideal for a quick getaway, particularly for those who are looking to take their children as the flights are not very long.
She noted that France, where the ferry or train could be used for travel, and Spain were excellent places to visit and there are plenty of deals to be had at the moment.
After the recent bank holiday weekend, the next available UK break for the whole family will be the Christmas period, with many cities around the country hosting seasonal celebrations and shows to take part in.
