European destinations helping Brits get some winter fun
Date Posted: 06/12/10
Britons are continuing to go to some of Europe's most cultured cities in order to get away during the winter, according to new research.
A study by Experian Hitwise found Paris hotels were the fourth most popular choice when looking for a weekend break in the cold season.
This was a rise from tenth position in July this year, with New York topping the poll.
Furthermore, Amsterdam was the seventh most popular city, with Barcelona taking 12th spot and Rome 13th.
Winter breaks were also enjoyed in Prague, with the Czech city appearing in 19th, rising from 32nd earlier this year.
Other destinations to make an appearance in the list include London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Recently, Alex Paterson, writing for the Daily Mirror, said that Paris is now much easier to get to than it was in the past.
She said that she took her daughter Maisie to Disneyland Paris recently, a journey which was completed by a train ride to St Pancras station and then the Eurostar service to the French capital.
