Educating Rita to star Claire Sweeney and Matthew Kelly
Date Posted: 03/02/12

Claire Sweeney and Matthew Kelly have been named in the cast for Educating Rita, which will come to the capital later this year.
The production will open in front of those booking London theatre breaks on Wednesday April 25th at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
It will stay at the Off West End venue until Saturday May 12th before it then goes on a tour around the UK.
Sweeney is set to take on the role of Rita, with Kelly stepping into the shoes of Dr Frank Bryant in Willy Russell's play.
It tells the story of a young, brash hairdresser who enrols with the Open University and brings with her a fresh and unschooled reaction to literary classics, causing lecturer Frank to doubt his own understanding.
Previously, Sweeney made her reputation in Brookside, and has also appeared in the UK tour of Legally Blonde.
Kelly has built up a big list of TV and theatre credits, including Buried Child, Lend Me a Tenor and Waiting for Godot.
