Edinburgh's Spookiest Attraction Celebrating 10th Birthday
Date Posted: 04/03/13
Those staying in Edinburgh hotels this spring are in for a spooky time, as one of the capital's scariest attractions celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Mary King's Close is just one of a series of alleyways located off the Royal Mile that were crowded residential and trading areas in the 17th century, but were later built over.
However, in 2003 this reportedly haunted close was reopened to the public, with costumed tour guides leading visitors on a frightening trip through history.
To celebrate ten years of scaring visitors, the tourist attraction is 'Calling All Kings to the Close'. In April, visitors with the name Mary King will be given free entry.
Then in August, as part of the Edinburgh Festival, the 'Dark Truth Tour' will see the lights dimmed and visitors told tales of murder and plague. 'Close Fest' is being held on Halloween and in December, 'Christmas on the Close' takes place.
