Ecstasy as Mike Leigh's play set for run at Duchess theatre
Date Posted: 24/03/11
Mike Leigh's Ecstasy will move from the Hampstead theatre to the Duchess for a short run later this year.
Those booking London theatre breaks will be able to see the production in the West End from Tuesday April 12th to Saturday May 28th.
Starring Sian Brooke and Sinead Matthews, the play is set in the late 1970s and looks at the togetherness and camaraderie of old friends reuniting.
"I am so glad to be able to give Mike Leigh's work a wider platform to be seen on. We have been unable to cope with demand for tickets at Hampstead so this transfer is doubly important both for the theatre and for the audience," said Hampstead theatre's artistic director Edward Hall.
The relocation means that Sign of the Times, starring Matthew Kelly, will close earlier than previously advertised on Saturday April 2nd.
Other productions taking centre stage at the Hampstead venue over the coming months include No Naughty Bits and The Last of the Duchess.
