David Bowie Retrospective set to Smash Visitor Records at the V&A
Date Posted: 26/02/13
Fans of David Bowie have extra reason to visit London this spring/summer when a major new exhibition looking at the life and work of the musician opens at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
And according to reports, the retrospective, entitled 'David Bowie Is' and set to run from March 23rd to August 11th, is on course to smash the record for the biggest number of visitors ever to attend an exhibition at the museum.
According to the Daily Telegraph some 26,000 advance tickets for the show have already been sold, meaning it is set to be the most popular exhibit the V&A has ever held.
Among the more than 300 objects that will make up David Bowie Is are 60 of the singer’s famous costumes, original storyboards for Bowie’s Ashes to Ashes music video and sketches of the stage designs for his famous Diamond Dogs tour in 1974.
Victoria Broackes, a co-curator of the show, told the newspaper: "These are among the most exciting exhibits because they show Bowie’s extraordinary creativity and breadth of interests."
