Cycle the Forest of Dean for an exciting family getaway
Date Posted: 04/05/12
Active families looking for short breaks this summer should consider going on a cycling holiday to explore the British countryside on two wheels.
Head to the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire where the biking tracks are ideal for those with smaller legs. The route from Bath to Bradford-on-Avon along the Kennet and Avon canal is a good choice too. The journey is only eight miles long and is full of beautiful Georgian buildings.
These are just two of Britain's best family cycling routes, but there are hundreds more throughout the UK.
"Cycling is a very inclusive activity and is an ideal way to interact and spend time together as a family," said a spokesperson for Life Cycler UK.
"It is suitable for families of all ages, as tandems and child seats can be excellent for younger children who cannot confidently cycle on their own."
The quality and number of cycling routes continues to improve across the country, making this year as good a time as any to fix the bike rack to the car and set off on a two-wheeled staycation.
