Coldplay plan intimate gig as they take trip down memory lane
Date Posted: 18/11/11
Coldplay will return to where they staged one of their earliest gigs to play an intimate show in front of just a few hundred people.
Chris Martin and his bandmates will entertain a small group of lucky fans booking London hotels at Camden's Dingwalls venue on Tuesday December 6th, with the show then being broadcast by BBC Radio 2 a week later.
The group played at the venue back in 1998 in order to raise money for their debut LP, with tickets costing just £4.
Commenting on the concert, which follows in the footsteps of similar shows for BBC Radio 2 by Elbow and Noel Gallagher, head of music Jeff Smith said: "I can't remember a time when Radio 2's live music offering has been so diverse and exciting."
Since 1998, Coldplay have gone on to have a number of top-selling albums and have played to some of the biggest audiences around the world.
The band recently announced that they would be playing a UK stadium tour, with gigs planned for the Emirates in London and Sunderland's Stadium of Light among others.
