Celebrate Lego With the Art of the Brick

In our childhoods, we might have felt that we could have gone on building Lego forever, assembling the little pieces of plastic into whatever our imaginations could come up with before dismantling them and rebuilding into something else.

Former corporate lawyer Nathan Sawaya has never stopped, and his touring exhibition The Art of the Brick is testimony to what can be achieved with time, talent and a lot of Lego bricks!

The display, which shows viewers that these little pieces of coloured plastic can be much more than just a child's plaything, will come to London for the first time this September where it will remain until January 2015.

Having received acclaim from entertainment press, art critics and even celebrities alike across Asia, America and Europe, the showcase promises to thrill audiences in London with some of the most incredible sculptures ever created.

Take, for example, the recreation of Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa. The lady's enigmatic smile is recreated in incredible detail - and right next to her real-life Louvre neighbour the Venus de Milo.

Children, meanwhile, will be utterly enthralled by the gigantic T-Rex skeleton, which measures a grand total of six metres from nostril to tail tip.

If you feel as though you've caught a little of the genius exhibited here, get yourself to the Interactive Zone where you can feel like a child again among the bricks and pieces provided here to help your imagination flow.

In short, The Art of the Brick is a fantastic showcase that both adults and children will adore. It's taking place on Brick Lane - no, really - at the Old Truman Brewery. Tickets cost £16.50 for adults and a range of concessions are available for children and families.
