The British Museum is London’s most visited attraction, according to new figures released by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) for 2013.
The museum has remained the capital’s most popular attraction for seven years now and it seems its popularity is only growing, with a 20 per cent increase in visitor numbers in 2013.
The figures also showed that National Gallery is now London’s second most popular attraction, rising one place, with a 14 per cent increase in visitors.
The Natural History Museum proved to be London’s third most popular place to go to with 5,356,884 visitors last year.
Director of the Natural History Museum Dr Michael Dixon said: "Last year was another record breaking one for the Natural History Museum. I believe this reflects the enduring appeal of museums, and our events and exhibitions showcasing our unparalleled collections and research."
