The Beatles 'have a special role' in Liverpool's tourism

Visitors booking Liverpool hotels should ensure they take some time to visit a number of attractions dedicated to The Beatles.
A spokeswoman for VisitLiverpool.com said that no mention of the city is complete without referencing the band as they play such a big part in its history.
She said that earlier this year the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' debut was celebrated, as they made their first appearance at The Cavern Club on February 9th 1961.
"As well as The Beatles Story and Cavern Club, music fans can enjoy a real Fab Four experience with attractions including Magical Mystery Tour and Mendips and Forthlin Road, the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney," the representative added.
Recently, Liverpool City Council announced that it was renaming the Neptune theatre after the former Beatles manager Brian Epstein.
The Epstein theatre, which is now looking for new owners, is ready to re-open after undergoing a £1 million refurbishment after it was closed for safety reasons six years ago.
