Beatles biopic Backbeat to get West End debut
Date Posted: 02/08/11
Backbeat, a stage adaption of the 1994 Beatles biopic, is receiving its West End debut later this year.
The production will open at the Duke of York's theatre on Monday October 10th, following previews from Saturday September 24th, booking until Saturday March 24th next year.
It has been co-written by Iain Softley and Stephen Jeffreys and the musical tells the early story of The Beatles.
Those booking London theatre breaks will join John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe as they start out on their journey to become the one of the most successful bands of all time.
"Backbeat at the Duke Of York theatre will allow people the experience of being at the birth of The Beatles. It tells a story that many music fans may not know, set to a musical backdrop that absolutely defined the early 60s," said producer Karl Sydow.
Currently, the Duke of York's theatre is showing Journey's End, which is booking until Saturday September 3rd.
