Barbara Windsor starring in 'most expensive pantomime ever'

Barbara Windsor will celebrate 60 years in show business on Boxing Day, and is marking the occasion by appearing in the most expensive pantomime ever made.
The former Carry On and EastEnders star is playing the role of Fairy Bowbells in Dick Whittington in front of those booking Bristol hotels for the production, which is showing at the city's Hippodrome until January 9th.
It is the first time in 16 years that Windsor has been on the stage, however, she is using her past experiences to prepare for her appearance.
"The Carry Ons were pantomimes, weren’t they? The Ugly Sisters, the Principal Boy, Baron Hardup - all the archetypal characters - and - particularly the double entendres, the gaudiness, the way - everything was exaggerated," she told the Daily Mail.
Windsor added that after toning things down for her role as landlady of the Queen Vic in Albert Square, she is now learning how to be "larger than life again".
Other stars taking part in pantomime this year include former Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien, X Factor performer Chico and TV presenter Paul O'Grady.
