Bacon and Rodin Explored in new London Show
Date Posted: 07/02/13
A new art exhibition exploring the relationship between the works of Francis Bacon and Auguste Rodin opens in London tomorrow (February 8th).
Called Movement and Gravity: Bacon and Rodin in Dialogue, the show at the Ordovas Gallery could make for a perfect day out for anyone staying at London hotels with an interest in these two seminal artists.
The exhibition will display bronzes by Rodin alongside a number of paintings by Bacon, exploring the significant influence the sculptor had on the British artist.
One of the works on display will be Bacon's Three Studies from the Human Body, 1967, which was last exhibited 40 years ago and has never before been shown to the public in the UK.
The painting depicts three gyrating, choreographed and apparently weightless figures, thought to represent the three ages of man.
It is believed that the work was Bacon's attempt at coming to terms with growing old.
The exhibition runs until April 6th.
