Arthur Miller's Broken Glass delivers some "superb performances"
Date Posted: 20/09/11
A revival of Arthur Miller's Broken Glass has been given a four-star rating, with one expert praising the "superb performances" of the cast.
Charles Spencer, writing for the Daily Telegraph, said that the show "grips throughout" and is a challenging drama which succeeds without the help of any celebrity casting.
"[Anthony] Sher gives a superb performance of crippling anxiety, his body racked with tension, his voice often emerging as a strangulated rasp of confusion and hurt. And the way he crawls to his cruel boss makes one squirm," added Mr Spencer.
He went on to say that despite Miller's "occasional clumsiness", Broken Glass is a production that those booking London theatre breaks will find to be a "rich and deeply-felt drama".
Mr Spencer's feelings were backed up by Michael Billington, writing in the Guardian, who described the Sher's performance as "magnificent", while also reserving praise for co-stars Tara Fitzgerald and Stanley Townsend.
