Arcade Fire ready to burn up The O2 arena
Date Posted: 18/10/10
Canadian rock band Arcade Fire are set to entertain their fans when they play two special dates at The O2 arena later this year.
Visitors heading to the capital and staying in one of the many hotels in London will see the group perform hits from their top-selling albums Funeral, Neon Bible and Suburbs on December 1st and 2nd.
Since releasing their debut effort Funeral in 2005, Arcade Fire have received critical acclaim for their work, with standout singles In the Backseat, Haiti and Une Annee Sans Lumiere ensuring that they reached a wide audience.
Neon Bible was launched in 2006 and was supported by a tour in North America and Europe, while their success also saw them visit Australia and New Zealand for the first time.
Earlier this year, the band came back to the big time with the release of Suburbs, with Mike Diver, writing for the BBC, describing it as Arcade Fire's "most thrillingly engrossing chapter yet".
For a modern band, one of the more intriguing aspects of their work is how they bring together instruments like the xylophone and glockenspiel into their music, providing a melodic and resonating sound for the audience.
