Anthony Sher named in 2 upcoming National Theatre productions
Date Posted: 26/09/11
Anthony Sher has been named in the cast of two National Theatre productions which will run over the next couple of years.
In January 2012 those booking London theatre breaks will be able to see him in Nicholas Wright's Travelling Light.
The production is a "tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood's golden age", with Sher taking up the role of timber merchant Jacob who becomes an inspiration to a young actor.
Following a spell in London, the show will then go on tour, taking in Salford, Leeds, Newcastle and Aylesbury.
He will then follow this up by appearing in Carl Zuckmayer's The Captain of Kopenick in 2013, which was last produced by the National Theatre at the Old Vic in 1971, according to OfficialLondonTheatre.co.uk.
Currently, Sher is starring in Broken Glass at the Vaudeville theatre, with the production recently being given a five-star rating by Michael Billington, writing for the Guardian.
