Alton Towers' Nemesis Sub-Terra launches in 24 hours
Date Posted: 23/03/12
There is just over 24 hours to go until Alton Towers opens its gates for the 2012 season.
The highly anticipated March 24th opening will see Alton Towers hotels packed with thrill seekers eager to try out the theme park's two new attractions, Nemesis Sub-Terra and Ice Age The 4D Experience.
Sub-Terra has already attracted plenty of attention, promising to instil fear in even the most seasoned adrenaline junky.
Billed as "your worst nightmare underground" by its designers, UK scientist Dr Paul Tennent has set out to establish just how thrilling the ride is through a series of tests.
He explained his findings to the Independent: "The ride is going for that sudden intensity - as though you went from normal to running full-tilt down the street in an instant."
Dr Tennent's tests showed that one subject's heart rate jumped from 60 to 172 at one point on the ride, proving that the designers of the latest Alton Towers attraction have succeeded in their aims.
