The hotel served the purpose but we felt it needed to look more cared for and was faded and tired in parts. Staaf were all excelent, the hotel is ok but in need of some modernisation. Swimming pool in the old church very tired. Hotel romm alright but a little out dated. The restaurant meal for dinner and See More  Read more information breakfast quality were very poor. I have had a better breakfast in and bed and brakfast in blackpool (£25.00 per night) For a 4 star hotel the food quality was discacful and drinks extremley overpirced. The ingredients used in the food are the cheapest i.e £23.00 for turkey main course £7.95 for quiche as a starter and quite bizzaremenus i.e quiche as a starter?. Shrigley Hall Hotel

Stay Date: 30/01/08, a customer who stayed at 4* Shrigley Hall Hotel (2 Nt Offer & 1st Nt Dinner) in Pott Shrigley (Peak District) wrote this review.

The journey to this Hotel via Manchester Trafford Centre and Stockport soon had us driving through the lovely Cheshire countryside. On reaching and climbing the impressive driveway to the Hotel the See More  Read more information view over the golf course to the Hotel was really picturesque. We reached the Hotel and quickly parked. The staff were most attentive and we had soon booked in. We went to our room on the 2nd floor, but this is where the disappointment started. The room had a small window which was about 5 foot from the floor and in order to see through it you had to stretch up. The decor was tired; the walls bythe window stained by water either condensation or rain water from the window. The carpet was stained, and the bedspread was also stained. The bathroom was also tired, and had black growths on some ofthe surface wall joints. An immediate call to reception had the staff asking us to return to reception. We explained the problem and were greeted by what appeared to be a supervisor/manager. Shewas most apologetic. An upgraded room was soon found for us, and we were advised that if we were not happy with this room then we should return to reception for further help. We went to this room, and were most impressed with the decor and quality of the room. Although only a few doors from the original room, it was in a totally different class. As you can imagine we were very happy with theoutcome, although we were concerned that we had been given the original room, when clearly someone at the Hotel must have known what the standard of the room was like. Even if the decor had been good, the small window gave the impression of an attic room which is not conducive with a 4 star Hotel of this class. The restaurant was superb both in terms of service and food quality, and thebreakfasts were of high quality. The Hotel is ideally situated for Manchester, Buxton, and more locally Macclesfield, and although we did have the original problem would certainly recommend it to ourfriends, and would return ourselves.   Collapse  Hide

Tatton Hall Treat

Stay Date: 28/07/07, a customer from St. Helens who stayed at 3* Cheadle House in Manchester (Nr) wrote this review.

I booked tickets for my girlfriend and myself at the Music and Fireworks Concert at Tatton Hall Park on 28th July 2007. I then thought it would be nice to make a weekend of it, so I also booked a See More  Read more information night at the De Vere Hotel in Cheadle. On our arrival, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, offering us directions from there to Tatton Park. However, on being directed to our room, wefound that the bed was unmade, with soiled sheets. We went back down to reception and complained, and the desk operative could not have been more helpful, or apologetic. We were immediately moved toanother room - which, I might say, was a larger and better one - and the rest of our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. We drove to the concert. Pauline, being the organised type, had broughtalong a picnic, and after a fairly long walk from the car park (probably half a mile), we arrived at the field where we were to enjoy the concert. We had to find a pitch amongst hundreds of otherconcert-goers, but only being two, that was not difficult. We were a long way from the stage, but that did not matter, as an excellent sound system had been installed across the field, and we could hear themusic as if we were next to the orchestra. An excellent choice of music for the occasion, the Halle justified their reputation as one of the nation's favourite orchestras, and the fireworks werespectacular. Even the light drizzle which came along intermittently could not dampen the enthusiasm of those present, and it even cleared away in time for the fireworks! A truly memorable evening! We hadto walk back to the car after the concert, which was like something out of a Cecil B DeMille epic, with hundreds of people walking together in file. Then we had to endure the long wait in the car toget out of the park. That must have taken at least 45 minutes, and it was past midnight before we got back to the hotel. Next time, I shall try to book the priority parking! We were tired, and we sleptwell, so much so that we missed breakfast, despite it being the usual later hours on a Sunday. However, we booked out and went across to the John Lewis Store just down the road. I had never beenthere, and I began to suspect a conspiracy when Pauline took me in the direction of the furniture department, but it was an enjoyable browse, and I even ended up buying a potato peeler! You should haveseen the look on Pauline's face when I came away with something and she didn't! I couldn't blame her for the shopping, as I had after all booked the hotel without her knowing, as a surprise. So shedidn't really miss out!   Collapse  Hide

Fantastic Staff Made A Memorable Break!

We stayed at Shrigley Hall hotel for a two night DBB break, looking for rest and relaxation in beautiful surroundings. We couldn't have wished for a more relaxing stay. The location of the hotel is See More  Read more information wonderful, looking out over the Cheshire plain and set in beautiful grounds. As we arrived we were greeted by the friendly reception staff and over the two days it was the service and welcome that wereceived from every member of staff we talked to, that made the difference. I have never been to a hotel were everyone goes out of their way to be kind and helpful in a genuine and friendlymanner. We made use of the health and fitness facilities and thoroughly enjoyed a massage and manicure from Charlotte - one of the talented beauty therapists. We felt that the whole experience at the hotelrepresented value for money and had a truly wonderful time. We can't wait to go back!   Collapse  Hide

We booked this weekend break with the full intention of 'chilling out' rather than doing the usual tourist stuff. Other than a short visit to Leek we stayed in the hotel complex. The hotel wa See More  Read more information sexcellent. Attentive staff, great food, reasonable bar prices and super leisure facilities. If only it had stopped raining we may even have been motivated to walk the grounds! My only negative commentwould be that the directions provided on the booking form were inaccurate and mis-leading. Had to buy a map in order to find the hotel!   Collapse  Hide

A great break in the Peak District

Stay Date: 02/01/07, a customer from Tadworth who stayed at 4* Shrigley Hall Hotel (2 Nt Offer & 1st Nt Dinner) in Pott Shrigley (Peak District) wrote this review.

Shrigley Hall provided us with a superb base, a lovely building in a beautiful location for a couple of dayswalking in the Peak District, returning in the evenings to enjoy a swim and a sauna before See More  Read more information dinner. The excellent dinners which were included in the price of the break provided were all we needed to enjoy the evenings without a need to go out. We have no other input to provide with regardsto this short break as Shrigley Hall provided us with all we needed.
