Sefton Park

Stay Date: 25/05/19, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 3* Sefton Park Hotel in Liverpool wrote this review.

I immediately thought the hotel was grossly overpriced as I had stayed in London for less. However the room was clean but basic so no complaints there. The hotel bar was pleasant and the staff See More  Read more information helpful but very laid back not professional in any way. The breakfast was nice the first day but poor in presentation. The second day it was a continental even though we had been told full breakfast eachday. The icing on the cake was being charged for the accommodation and the deposit for breakage when we had already paid and did no damage. Contacting the hotel took 3 times before I got through toarrange my money being repaid. I would certainly not recommend this hotel and feel it is grossly overpriced.   Collapse  Hide

Weather Problems and a Hiccups

Stay Date: 04/09/17, a customer aged 18-24 from Cannock who stayed at 2* Scarisbrick Hotel (2 Night Half Board Offer) in Southport wrote this review.

Our holiday had a few problems. None of which I blame the hotel for as it couldn't be helped. When we arrived later than planned, due to train strike, we were informed by the receptionist that See More  Read more information there was a problem with the lift. It had broken down a few hours before we arrived. They were unsure how long it would take to fix but they were doing everything they could. We didn't mind as it justmeant a little exercise, however there was a coach group of older people staying in the hotel at the time. Thankfully I only ever heard them joking about it. On the first morning of our stay it wasraining. Heavily. Had been for many hours. Turns out it flooded the gym, pool facilities and the cellar. They told us that they were hoping for it to be sorted out by the next day but upon asking for anupdate before we retired, there had been a few complications and the facilities wouldn't be available for the next few days. Bar those problems the hotel was great! Decent priced drinks, good food,TVs in the room and WiFi. All staff interactions were friendly and helpful. Overall not a bad holiday and we'd definitely stay there again, if not check out their sister hotel across the way thePrince of Wales hotel just to compare.   Collapse  Hide

It's located next to a See More  Read more information nightclub but it's ok inside. Rooms had very high ceilings and felt large because if this. There was some road noise and I didn't have a great night's sleep. Breakfast was a bit poor. Yogurt, cerealand toast is it. The hotel was clean though and the staff helpful. We visited The Tate which was good. The dock area of Liverpool is amazing - well worth a visit. We went on the Magical Mystery Tourwhich was really good. Loads of other museums and sights at the docks. Shopping in Liverpool is very good and plenty of places to eat. Stay Date: 12/05/17, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 4* Hotel Indigo Liverpool - Friday Night Out in Liverpool wrote this review.

Fantastic value Friday SuperBreak in Liverpool at Hotel Indigo. Hotel was excellent in a great location, just a few minutes walk to Pier One and the Albert Docks, but also Central for the city. I See More  Read more information can't say enough about all the staff, Sam and her team just couldn't do enough for us, nothing too much trouble and everything done with a smile. Would definitely recommend this hotel in its own right, but booked via SuperBreak which included breakfast, prosecco and a meal at Zizzi's, it was truly amazing value. Liverpool itself is a beautiful city with so much to offer, we will definitely be back!   Collapse  Hide

Overnight stay in Liverpool

Stay Date: 08/05/17, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Britannia Adelphi Hotel (Room only) in Liverpool wrote this review.

The Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool has a lot of character, and you are greeted with a warm welcome. The room we stayed in was a little tired and required a lick of paint. But overall very clean. The See More  Read more information food in the breakfast room and the evening meal in Jenny's restaurant was all self service. We directed to a table and then left to figure out where the food and drinks were located. Breakfast consistedof full English or fruit juices. The tea located the opposite side of the room... evening meal was roast pork and all trimmings, the veggie option was chilli. We have stopped at the Adelphi manytimes, and found it to central, all attractions a short bus ride away. We visited Liverpool FC, again we have been several times, each time seen something different or learnt new facts. The people ofLiverpool are very friendly and eager to help. Weekend in Southport

Stay Date: 21/10/16, a customer aged 65+ from Llangollen who stayed at 2* Scarisbrick Hotel (2 Night Half Board Offer) in Southport wrote this review.

Hotel was chosen for its excellent location for the town centre on the main shopping street. The entrance to the hotel and the public areas leave a lot to be desired. In fact they were the worst of See More  Read more information any establishment I have ever visited. Grubby, and very uninviting. The hotel room was of a good size, with a decent fairly modern bathroom, but apart from the bathroom, needed an update. We were twofloors above a bar which is part of the hotel, and the noise was intolerable, continuing until 3. 30 am on the first night, and even later on the second. This totally ruined our stay. At 6 pm onSaturday evening, water started coming through the ceiling, which necessitated in me putting the bathroom waste bucket in the middle of the floor. A short time later it started to come through in anotherpart of the ceiling, soaking the bedding which we had to have replaced. The house manager who came to see to problem simply said ''this bloody building'', giving me the impression that such occurrenceswere not uncommon. The dining arrangements and standard of food were acceptable. The bars, which were open to the public were uninviting and very outdated. We visited the sister hotel across theroad, which was far more pleasant and which we would consider using on our next visit to the resort. The Scarisbrick we would never use again.....not at any price.   Collapse  Hide

Hard Days Night Hotel weekend stay

Stay Date: 05/12/15, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 4* Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool wrote this review.

This was a surprise weekend away for my husband and both our first time to Liverpool City. The Hard Days Night Hotel lived up to my expectations from a visual and comfort (décor and furnishings) See More  Read more information perspective and the cooked breakfast was as good as any for a hotel of this standard. However, this was a romantic break away and being accommodated in our particular room took the edge off this. The party really felt like it was in your room with you andalthough we too enjoyed watching a band or two at these bars there was no escape from the hussle and bustle until 3/4am the next morning. The hotel would benefit from some sound proofing. That said Iwould return to this hotel providing I had confirmation of not being accommodated at the back of the hotel where there is less noise. Awful - wrong hotel

Stay Date: 19/09/15, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 2* Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport wrote this review.

I booked The Prince of Wales hotel for the Southport Airshow as a Present for my parents and my fiancée. I made the booking through Superbreaks in July for our stay in September. On our arrival See More  Read more information we were told that the hotel was overbooked and we had been moved to the Scarisbrick - a hotel I had specifically not booked due to the poor reviews it receives, specifically about the noise. Themanager on duty at the Reception desk contacted the Scarisbrick who apparently then changed our rooms for quieter ones. What can I say about the Scarisbrick? It was noisy (from our room we could see thedisco lights across the courtyard and definitely hear it), the staff were brusque, we had no shower gel in the room, the breakfast was poor - how anyone can get tea and coffee to be so unpleasant isbeyond me, and this whole fiasco meant that we missed the first part of the air displays that we had travelled from Manchester to see. We were provided with a free bottle of wine each, but reallythis does not make up for being put in such an awful hotel. The whole experience was totally unacceptable. When you book a hotel you choose the one you want to stay in, and how any hotel thinks it isalright to just move paying guests somewhere else is beyond me.   Collapse  Hide

Short break in Liverpool

Stay Date: 06/04/15, a customer aged 25-44 from Abingdon who stayed at 2* Dolby Hotel Liverpool in Liverpool wrote this review.

We stayed at the Dolby Hotel in the Docks area - a great location for visiting the new museums on the waterfront and taking the ferry from the Pier Head. The hotel itself is fantastic value, See More  Read more information spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly. In fact we found the people of Liverpool in general very friendly and helpful and can definitely recommend a short break in Liverpool for other stressedsoutherners like us! We loved the Tate and the new Liverpool museum - well-worth a visit to get a flavour of the history of Liverpool and the character of the liverpudlians. We'd also recommend visitingthe cathedrals: even if you are not believers they are both breathtaking works of architecture. But there are also great shops, Beatles tours (a bit pricey for our budget, but if you are big fans...)and of course the football if you stay during the season. For cheap eats, head for Bold Street in the City Centre. For a great few days away from it all, head for Liverpool!   Collapse  Hide

Sunny Southport

Stay Date: 11/10/14, a customer aged 45-64 from Wigan who stayed at 2* Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport wrote this review.

Having stayed at the Prince of Wakes several times before I can only say it has deteriorated. Firstly we could not get on the car park and was told by the receptionist that it was full and not See More  Read more information offered an alternative or suggested another car park. She could have offered to take our luggage or checked if our room was ready so that we didn't have to walk across town with it. The general cleaningeven of the corridors etc was not acceptable. The rooms however were adequately cleaned although the little extras were very basic and uninteresting. The whole place is a little tired and in need ofsome TLC. The receptionist was not forthcoming with information on check in unless she presumed we had stayed before in which case she just gave us a key and told us where the lift was!! We were onlybooked in for the one night incl breakfast which only serving till 10am on a sunday with check out at that time is a little early. We arrived for breakfast at 9.15 to find hardly any tables empty and theodd ones that were had yet to be cleared. No one was around to ask if we had to give our room number or direct us to a table. The cereals and such needed replenishing although there was plenty of hotcooked breakfast food. We were offered tea or coffee and opting for tea it arrived stewed so it had been stood around for a while. I was not impressed with the pile of dirty crockery and food etc ona table by the side of where we were eating and felt it should have been partitioned off. Then to the queue at checkout! people were complaining as there was only one receptionist on and everyone washaving to check out at same time 10:00am !! Overall the location is excellent and we had a comfortable night but I must say I was not inspired enough to want to stay again as there are other hotels inSouthport offering more at a similar price.   Collapse  Hide

Stay Date: 07/08/14, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 2* Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport wrote this review.

There are some issues with the hotel room. I was staying with my sister and my 6 year old niece. I was surprised to be given a room with a trip hazard step as we had a young child with us. I fell See More  Read more information down this step twice in the first hour. The step did not have any bright coloured hazard tape on it, just a small sticker on the wall. On my first evening (7.8.2014) I noticed some broken glass in the corridor leading to ourroom (room 129) I moved the glass to the side and informed the Reception staff in the morning. On my departure (9.8.2014) this glass was still where I had left it. If someone had stood on it it wouldcause them to cut their foot. I mentioned it again to the Receptionist who said she passed my concerns on already to her Manager.
