Kensington High Street Area Holiday Reviews

Kensington Palace, Kensington High Street Area

One of London's most fashionable districts, our hotels in Kensington are perfect for a short break in the capital; close by to all the excitement of central London, the area is just far enough removed from all the hustle and bustle for a relaxing getaway. Oxford Street, Mayfair and the glittering West End are all just a short tube ride away.

Kensington High Street is famed for its fabulous shopping, with upscale boutiques offering the very finest fashions and trendy goods. With a great range of stores, Westfield Shopping centre is also an excellent destination when on a shopping break. Our Kensington hotels are also in a good position to visit some of London's top attractions - pretty Hyde Park, the Royal Albert Hall and the Natural History Museum are all just a short walk away.

  • Endlessly elegant and very, very impressive, be sure to visit Kensington Palace and its stunning gardens - the former home of Princess Diana and currently the residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Palace have a number of fascinating exhibitions permanently on show.
  • Well worth a visit at any time of year, The Victoria and Albert Museum (otherwise known as the V and A) often have the most popular and sought-after exhibitions in London.
  • Great for exhibitions and famous for its annual Horse Trials, Olympia London is a mere stone's throw away.

A fantastic choice for your next short break in London, check out our great range of hotels in Kensington below.

Mamma Mia - I am not a fan of ABBA or musicals in general; the show was pure escapism & guaranteed to make you feel better, don't expect a cultural experience though. See More  Read more information   Collapse  Hide

Vanderbilt Hotel

Stay Date: 17/04/09, a customer who stayed at 4* Radisson Blu Edwardian, Vanderbilt in Kensington wrote this review.

Priced to get your business, the Vanderbilt really is far better value than you would expect. Reception is simple and the foyer clean and tidy with reception staff attentive. Checkout busy as See More  Read more information with most hotels, so if you can avoid the 9-11am slot or you will end up queuing. Access to rooms via two lifts which are both small and slow - best to take the stairs. Room fixtures andfittings excellent and in good condition. Room service and cleanliness excellent for the money. Nothing unexpected when staying in a London hotel when it comes to ambient noise but if your room faces themain road it truly is noisy. Security and atmosphere excellent and lounge / bar areas very comfortable with very attentive and helpful staff. Restaurant staff excellent and breakfast not onlyvery good, but quality of food exemplary. Overall if you want access to museums and Kensington plus easy routes to other parts of London you can?t go wrong with the Vanderbilt Hotel. Would happilygo again with family - we had a wonderful stay.   Collapse  Hide

London Weekend Break

Stay Date: 27/03/09, a customer who stayed at 4* Radisson Blu Edwardian, Vanderbilt in Kensington wrote this review.

Hotel was very good, quiet location with Gloucester Road tube station in easy walking distance. Only problem I had was asked for non-feather pillows on several occasion (due to allergy) and non were See More  Read more information forthcoming - eventually told me they had none but would fine some - never did - slept 2 nights on a cushion! Otherwise staff very accommodating and friendly and we could leave our bags on the day ofdeparture with no fuss. Would stay there again. Our visit was for my son's 9th birthday and although our sightseeing plans for the Saturday were hastily rearranged due to the G20 protests we stillfitted alot in. The museuems close to this hotel are all walking distance and excellent for kids and adults alike - check out the Science Museum's Launch Pad, we couldn't get him out of there! An addedbonus is entry was free in all museums we visited (V&A, Science, Natural History) just watch out for pricey meals when you are in there. Also went on the London Eye, well worth it althoughdisappointed that there was no commentary. The open top bus wasn't as frequent as we expected and didn't run very late so in hinsight we should have started this earlier.   Collapse  Hide

Mayfair Hotel

Stay Date: 25/04/09, a customer who stayed at 4* Radisson Blu Edwardian, Vanderbilt in Kensington wrote this review.

I did not think the the hotel came up to 5 star standards. Nothing major - little things like there being a plug hanging out of the wall, having to ask twice for an extension lead and when it did See More  Read more information come it was dirty and obviously pulled out from staff area. Also very noisy area. Not enough to complain about, but not as good as I would expect from a 5 star.   Collapse  Hide
