My family spent a week on vacation at the Wyndham Grand Athens and it was perfect. Started with complimentary food and wine from the front office manager, Dimitra, and the staff. Huge compliments to Dimitra who was extremely helpful in planning our activities and tours for the week and the front desk personnel were very friendly. Our room was not big, but our daughters's room and bathroom was much bigger. They really enjoyed massages at the spa and we enjoyed the gym one day. The views from our room were fine, but the rooftop lounge has a stunning view of the Acropolis. Breakfast is very big and varied. It was easy to get a taxi in front of the hotel with the fare only 4-5 euro to the Plaka at Acropolis. Our week ended with our daughter's birthday and Dimitra and her staff gave her a birthday cake and sweet breads. We can't thank the staff enough for a fantastic week and hopefully we'll go there again some day. Collapse

The management is very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast is unparalleled in variety and taste with classic Greek dishes as well as American comfort food. Aside from that, our room offered a marvelous view of the Acropolis which never got old and was a joy to wake up to every morning. I highly recommend this hotel for its kind staff, great food, and lovely views. Collapse

I recently stayed at the Wyndham Grand Athens with a huge group of friends. While one might question the location of the hotel in the more doubtful part of downtown Athens, we chose it thanks to its proximity to the subway (right across the street on the square) and the Acropolis which we wanted to be able to walk to. As is in traveling in any big cities, one merely needs to conduct oneself with common sense and caution. The hotel is rather new and the rooms well appointed with modern touches. Room sizes do differ slightly due to the shape of the building and just ask for the more spacious ones. If you don't care for city views I would recommend the Atrium View rooms as these are incredibly quiet. Beds and beddings are comfortable and cozy and the blackout curtains help for a good nights sleep. Bathrooms are spacious and provide all amenities needed. Not all bathrooms have bathtubs but the water pressure is strong in the shower. The welcome fruit basket made a simple yet warm gesture. The breakfast buffet was absolutely excellent and has many choices both hot and cold. For variety there is an authentic Greek restaurant Alex the Great conveniently located right outside the hotel as well as a huge coffee/bakeshop. But what truly made our stay memorable and which stand out in the hotel is Dimitra and her team at the front desk. Even months before our actual arrival, when I was pestering her with questions on how to arrange transport and tours and meals for our big group of friends, she was ever prompt in replying, always friendly and enthusiastic and never tiring in making suggestions and recommendations, helping make arrangements and more arrangements, genuine and sincere. When we finally arrived, it felt like coming home to meeting old friends. She never missed answering a call even on her days off. That's how amazingly committed she is. She and her team, Angela, Sissy, Thanasis, and several others answered to every request I and my friends made, from a small adapter to switching rooms to booking and studying menus at the hotel's rooftop restaurant Above with its breathtaking nighttime view of the Acropolis. Even when we finally departed and left behind several items, she and her team made it a point to ensure we got them back. At the time of this writing, she is still aiding me in the process of asking for a partial refund from the finance office due to a computer system glitch. My whole experience with her and her team have left me with such an incredibly positive feeling of the Greek people. It is this unique professional efficiency coupled with a truly caring service that makes a hotel stand out from the rest. Collapse
