We have been to KW many times and have stayed in other prime hotels, some b and bs and some off the strip locations. This is in the prime area of KW, you can walk to Duval, Mallory Square and all the locations. This year instead of braving the crowds at Mallory for the Sunset Celebration--we had our own on our balcony with champagne, cheese, crackers and shrimp. We had a huge Ocean front suite with separate King bedroom--the living room was a giant room with a wrap around couch that overlooked the beautiful view. We enjoyed breakfast each morning there with the complimentary Starbucks coffee and virgin Mimosas from the lounge. The huge jacuzzi tub was perfect to soak and relax in after the sunset celebration before showering for dinner. The pool is small but comfortable with attentive pool service from Lynette who would fluff towels, provide maps and restaurant recommendations and even polish your sunglasses. The private beach at Sunset Key was the perfect way to relax on a tropical private beach. Margaritaville guests can purchase tickets for $20 per person and take a private launch to the private beautiful beach that has cushioned lounges, small lounge tables and umbrellas. There is chair side bar and food service so you never have to leave your chair. We did use this but opted to enjoy an elegant seafood lunch at the oceanfront Lattitudes restaurant. This was the highlight of our stay as there was only 1 other couple on this private beach and they arrived after 3 pm. We used the complimentary coffee. virgin mimosas, and virgin mojitios in the lounge and were surprised by complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne to help up celebrate. The service and ambiance is relaxing and the perfect escape from you are ready to relax after the wild fun of Duval. We really enjoyed this change of pace. We didn't see Jimmy but we had a wonderful vacation! Collapse

We moved from another, “traditional “ Key West hotel. Although we spent about $200 more per night we felt it was worth it. We had a view of the water and a small balcony that we loved. If the view is important to you check the cruise ship schedule or you may be looking at the side of a ship instead of a beautiful view of the waters. The front desk made us aware before we made our reservation of the schedule so we didn’t have any surprises. We would certainly stay again Collapse

Wanted to stay in Key West but did not have reservations, we stopped at Margaritaville Key West Resort and were welcomed by the friendly staff and was able to secure a great room with a fabulous view of Mallory Square. The room was clean and housekeeping did a great job during a two day stay. We used the hot tub and the pool which were very clean. The sunset deck provided a spectacular view of the famous Key West sunsets! The resort was within easy walking distance of many of the bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. Collapse

Margaritaville Resort is in a perfect location in Key West. It is located directly on the pier where the cruise ships dock, only 2 blocks from Duval St. We got a marina view room which I think is the best location. The oceanfront rooms are great as long as there is not a cruise ship docked in front of the hotel. With the marina view rooms, even if there are 3 or 4 ships in, you still have a view of the marina, coast guard ship and the shops along the marina. The balcony has 2 chairs and a small table and it is a great place to look at the ocean, boats at the marina and people watch. The hotel is in immaculate condition and very well appointed. It is not cheap, but the cleanliness and location make it worth while. As I mentioned, it is only 2 blocks from the Sloppy Joe's end of Duval St. and 1 block from the terminal for the Conch Train and Hop-on, Hop-off bus terminals. The property abuts Mallory Square. Restaurants, bars and transportation are all right there. They have a parking garage. which is $25 per day for valet parking, but we just dropped the car with them and never needed it again until we left 4 days later. The parking fee is well worth it as parking in Key West is not easy. Bathroom amenities, toiletries, etc. were top notch. The towels were probably the softest we have ever experienced in a hotel. If I have complaint, it is the mattresses. They were not uncomfortable, but did have cavities where you sleep and are due for replacement. It would not keep me from returning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is also a very nice pool area with bar service and a second floor observation deck with tables, chairs, hightops and a bar to watch the fantastic sunsets. Margaritaville is well worth the price. Collapse

We've been a few times when this property was operating under the Westin brand. Since being converted to new ownership, little has changed but the prices (and not for the better). Rooms are comfortable but not extravagant, food is good, but not worth the up charge given convenience to better options. We enjoy the pool view rooms, as during the day ocean view rooms can be blocked by cruise ships, and during the evening the bar makes as good a place to watch sunset as any room. These rooms also offer balconies, but without being on top of the constant flow of tourists in Mallory Square. It's a solid option among many solid options in Key West. Collapse
