First time in Key West

Worst WIFI I have ever experienced. View is blocked when cruse ships dock. Every thing else was good. Friendly hotel staff. Easy covered parking close to the room for $20 a day. Very convenient to Malory Square and Duval St.

Only stayed for one night so we could be close to the airport for our return flight home after a trip to Key West. The hotel is gorgeous from the main lobby to your room. Great ocean view from the room. The decor, lighting, detail and cleanliness were top notch. Crawled into bed and the experience went from 5 stars to 3 because the mattress in room 1604 felt like one that had been slept in by a 600 pound guerrilla for about 20 years and was made in plastic. It was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever tried to sleep on. I never got to sleep because I was sunken into the guts of what felt like and sounded like a plastic mattress. Crinkled rustling of the mattress was heard and felt each time I repositioned with the slightest move. We ate breakfast the next morning at the Margaritaville Restaurant to use part of a $50 breakfast credit that was part of the booking package. However, for some reason, the hotel charged my card for the meal. Including my call to them this afternoon, I have called 6 times now in the last four days to request they remove the charge from my credit card and apply the $50 credit we had (verified by the line item package on the check out receipt). In my experience both prior to and after my stay, the hotel does not answer many of its calls. My carrier has even come on and told me my call can not be completed at this time because I’ve let their phone ring for minutes at a time - no one picks up. Finally, when someone does answer, they don’t apparently know who to direct me too. Yesterday, they transferred me to the manager on-call after I had already been on hold for several minutes who eventually came on to tell me that the front desk should have taken care of the matter. He transfers me back to the same people who transferred me to him. But, they never picked up. Called again today and literally got transferred to 3 separate entities: front desk, guest relations, and eventually I had to settle for leaving a message with Accounts Receivable? Not sure what ever happened to customer service. Ridiculous that a customer can spend nearly $500 for a room for a night and then have to advocate on his own behalf to have a misguided charge removed from a hotel that can’t not only fail to have an open line of communication but also fail to get their billing system to function properly. 6 calls and now I’m having to Dispute the charge with my credit card company. Lousy service, period. Collapse
Not worth the Money

We thought we would splurge and stay at the Margaritaville Resort for something special. We were very disappointed in the resort for the price. The room was average to say the least... The ceiling had a big crack with a bad plaster job right down the middle. The carpet was not very clean and the pool area was small. I felt like I was at a Holiday Inn instead of paying for a premium resort. There was even a cruise ship in port that took up the view of the ocean. Last year we stayed at another resort directly across from Mallory Square and that is where we will stay for now on! Collapse
Meh. Its a decent chain hotel, expensive, nothing to do with Margaritaville.

Had stayed at this property previously. Checkin staff assured us it was pretty much the same, explaining that they just license the name from Jimmy Buffett's empire. Location is ok, better if you never been to Key West and don't know about better, more charming areas. I was there on work last minute for this trip and my options were limited. The rooms are decent for the price (high). Pool is almost always in the shade because it is sandwiched in between the two wings of a 'U' shaped hotel. The bar/casual snack restaurant near the Mallory Square boardwalk is good for a view of the great sunsets, but the crowds are unpleasant, the prices high and the food worse than meh. Also, be careful at check in/check out. They will sneak in a resort fee that will blow your mind. Collapse

This review comes overdue. We stayed March 21 - 26 in a one-bedroom suite that overlooked the pool. It was very spacious, the balcony was amazing, and all-in-all was a good room. With one exception - the housekeeping. Don't get me wrong, the housekeepers are as nice as can be, but they were hard to come by. I have a feeling they may have been short-staffed when we were there. We had a pullout sofa in the living room which was clearly never cleaned underneath for a while. We found an empty bag of Cheetos, 2 ping pong balls, and a variety of other homeless items left behind. It was kind of unnerving to see every time we pulled the sofa out. Staff were great: kudos to Lynette at the pool and Greg at the front desk. The food was good for the price. And yes, cruise ships come in, but I found it kind of interesting watching them dock and pull out. These ships help funnel much needed money into Key West. I would recommend a stop at the Agave 308 Tequila Bar for the perfect margarita. A word to the wise: when you make your reservation, be sure to call the 1-800 number listed on the website. Do not make your reservation directly with the hotel. I initially called the hotel, but then had to make a change to the reservation, and called the 1-800 number. The amazing reservationist at the 1-800 number was able to give me a much better price for the exact same room. Collapse
