An all around excellent stay at Harbor Castle. Friendly, professional staff. Hotel is on the water so ferries and tour boats are right outside the rear entrance and public transportation is right outside the front entrance. Park car in the hotel and don't take it out unless you're going to the outskirts. High rise apartment buildings make Toronto densely populated. This is the best place to stay. Hotel restaurants, pool and morning breakfast kiosk in the lobby mean you may not leave the hotel. The asst mgr was very hospitable and helpful. Lost card, 2 last names w/o hyphen. Thank you. Post arrival We were told to pay at the end of our stay although we wanted to pay up front . We are from Australia and it is a long way to travel. This was a business trip handled by our company. we had traveled 22 hrs , only to be held up at the front counter wanting to get to our room. They requested payment from us however the company had pre organised this and the reason was that they wanted full payment for our stay. This is originally what we the company wanted to do however, as it was through our company the card to be used was in Australia and we were checking in at the beginning of a weekend . In the end we then payed 2 nights of our own money then come the Monday paid the full amount out. MY ADVICE TO ALL TRAVELLING TO THIS HOTEL , Pay upfront dont take any exceptions or you will be waiting at the foyer paying for 2 days while waiting to get on to your company to correct it rightfully. This was appalling way to come to this hotel Poor organisation checking in on the western Hotel side , apart from this everything else is very good. Collapse

INCORRECTLY CHARGED $545 - TOOK OVER 6 WEEKS TO FIGHT FOR REFUND

I have stayed at this Westin location multiple times; however after my recent customer service experience they would be lucky to get my business ever again. I stayed 2 nights at the Westin Toronto Harbour Castle May 31 & June 1 2017 for a work conference. My coworkers and I had 4 rooms booked on the same company card through a special conference rate and this was arranged a month prior. Upon check in, the front desk agent asked for my personal credit card. I made sure to confirm that the room charge would not be put on my card but on the company card. He confirmed this and stated my credit card was needed only for ‘incidentals’. I hesitantly agreed and gave him my card. 1 week after checking out, I noticed a $545 charge from the Westin on my credit card statement. I immediately called to have this corrected and was transferred to Michelle from Accounting’s voicemail. I left several voicemails with no call back. Finally after a week of trying to get ahold of a HUMAN instead of a voicemail, I spoke with Michelle. She confirmed that she would charge the correct card and take the $545 off of my card immediately – this was June 14th. Over a week later, I still did not see the refund on my card. It AGAIN took me another week to get in contact with Michelle. I left SEVERAL voice mails and emails that were blatantly ignored by both Michelle and the accounting manager. June 30th (1 MONTH AFTER MY STAY) I called the Westin again and demanded that I speak with someone immediately instead of a voicemail. They got me through to the manager of accounting and he asked who I was working with. He said Michelle was at her desk and would give the phone to her now. So, all this time she was just not picking up my calls and CHOOSING TO IGNORE ME. When I spoke to her, she acted like I was inconveniencing HER and acted like she had no idea what I was talking about. THIS IS $545, NOT A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY. She sent me an invoice through email for a receipt. I spoke with Michelle again on Wednesday, July 5th because I STILL did not have the refund. She was neither friendly nor apologetic. Not once through this situation did she apologize for the inconvenience this has caused me. She acted as though I was inconveniencing her. When I explained the refund had yet to appear on my card, she told ME to call HER again on Friday, July 7th if it still was not on there. Why would I have to call her? She should be offering to call and check in on the situation herself. Ridiculous! Before she hung up she had the gull to ask me, "so is your issue ok now?" NO, NOTHING had been done. Friday came around and I called Michelle to let her know that the refund was still not on my card. She said to me, "Um ok.. are you sure? Did you check your statement?" C'mon, that is an unacceptable thing to ask a customer. Of course I checked - this is not something I like to do for fun. When I told her yes I checked AND called my Visa company, she said "well I did the refund so you will just have to wait until next week." Who talks to customers like that? Wednesday, July 12th and finally the refund appeared on my card. I'm sorry, but something is VERY wrong when it was over SIX WEEKS from my stay and there was still an outstanding balance on my credit card for $545. I reached out to customer service at the Westin about this situation. I emailed back and forth with the Guest Services Manager Lewis, and he agreed this was not acceptable. The last I spoke with him, he asked for permission to have the accounting team’s managers “reach out to follow up with regards to the steps they are taking internally to prevent this kind of thing from happening again and with regards to compensation for the poor quality of service.” This was on July 12th and two weeks later I am still waiting on that phone call and for SOMETHING TO BE DONE. I have emailed Lewis again, and once again I am ignored. To say that I am disappointed in the service I have been provided during this ordeal would be an understatement. I would like to express that I am not just complaining for the fun of it - the proof of my terrible experience is in the Westin’s accounting books and was evident in mine for the over SIX WEEKS it took me to get a refund. Not only is the level of service the Westin provided me sub par, but it has now cost me interest on 545 dollars plus delays in wedding planning as my card had an outstanding balance. I was treated like my business means nothing to their hotel. I have been more than patient through this whole ordeal and have received nothing but inconvenience in my own life, not to mention interest on my credit card while Westin employees screwed me around for 6 weeks. Be aware because clearly this will keep happening to guests as their customer service method is IGNORE THEM UNTIL THEY GO AWAY. Collapse
