The hotel is based on the top of a hill (no view though as large trees all round) surrounded by large and lovely gardens with an outdoor pool (heated and pleasant even when not sunny) and two jacuzzis, one for adults only. The hotel has clearly been extended several times over the years and there are little steps and corridors with different areas of accomodation leading off the main reception, but everything is well maintained and works well although floor boards creak a bit. We stayed five nights, booked as a package through Condor Ferries (Travelsmith) as half board. We travelled on the Commodore Clipper from Portsmouth, highly recommended as not over busy even in peak season, and plenty of space and seating. It only goes out in the day and comes back overnight. Arrives at Jersey after Guernsey so later in evening, but hotel will move your half board dinner from the first night to the evening you leave if you ring them before hand, and there is plenty of time for dinner on the last night before check in at the port in St Helier. This slow ferry always runs whatever the weather and is much more reliable than the fastcraft option! Food at the hotel was excellent with full waiter service on meals (Carlos was great) and choices of each course including a vegetarian option which my 14 year old daughter always mostly eat. There were always additional vegetables and potato provided in side dishes for main course. Breakfast was buffet cereal/pastries/juices but hot food as ordered. Staff very friendly and helpful, will swap/modify to suit your taste/needs. We stayed in a double with an extra bed. All comfy, TV, not a huge amount of floor space left but we were rarely in the bedroom as there is a large bar area, outside seating, some covered and another twilight room if no functions on. Also a reading room on first floor. Reception staff knowledgeable and friendly. Plenty of parking at the hotel, which is unusual in Jersey where parking is at a premium. You don't need a car though as the free hotel mini bus runs to the main bus station several times a day where Liberty buses go all over the island including to the airport, zoo, smaller bays etc. Parking elsewhere is with a Jersey disk, or usually in car parks and on street by paycard, bought in most newsagents/stores as needed, but you have to have some BEFORE you want to park somewhere! St Helier town centre where you are dropped off is not large, so easily walkable from the drop off, and not the most attractive place although the port is interesting. Staying outside the hustle and bustle but popping in when you fancy works well. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for travellers of any kind. Collapse

All I can say is if you like your sanity and sleep, want a restful holiday don't stay here! Had to move rooms twice as so noisy, went and asked if staff could tell room above to be quiet as I have a 6 month, 4 year old and 8 year old. To be told no one above when I fact there was. But in fact they where and no apology anything, felt I was an inconvenience and so upset for my kids as you work hard to save up for holidays and enjoy, but can hear every noise, cough, talking and like elephants tap dancing above. Restaurant and bar staff amazing but if you've been before and are known you do get better service! Collapse
