We booked the Trianon Versailles somewhat last minute after part of our itinerary fell through due to the Air France strikes preventing us from going to the south of France after Paris. We got a great rate for this hotel and planned to visit the palace anyway so decided to make a trip of it and spend a few days. So for the good. I speak a little French but most of the staff spoke decent English so it wasn't necessary to try my rusty French. Check in process was easy, staff was very helpful and as Hilton Honors Gold members we received a room upgrade, free breakfast, free WiFi. The breakfast was excellent although I don't know that I would have paid 30+ Euro for it. We dined at the restaurant there and found it to be a good value for great food. The grounds are beautiful and right on the Chateau park so easy access for visiting the palace as well as access to the town. There were a few things that were not great but I would only knock off 0.5 to 1 star. There weren't many outlets in the room and it would have been nice to have USB outlets by the bed. I had to charge my phone and tablet in the hallway near the bathroom as that was the easiest outlet to reach. Our bed was a king bed that was two twin beds pushed together. The individual twin beds were worn down in the middle so it was nearly impossible to sleep towards the middle of the bed - you would just roll down the side towards the edge. The bed was comfortable though and we slept fine. So why 3 stars? On the day of our departure, we checked out, left our bags to head to the palace (which was closed on Monday, our only full day there). We spent several hours at the palace and came back planning to have a drink before heading to our hotel at CDG. We were dressed casually given we had been walking around all day. We asked if it was ok to sit on the patio just for drinks and were told to pick any open seat and our server would be right over. After waiting for 15 minutes and seeing other table sit and be served, we decided to just leave. Once they realized we were hotel guests they were apologetic but it was too late for us. This experience did not make us want to return and really did disappoint us after a mostly good stay at Trianon. It is a nice hotel, but coming from New York City, it was much more snobbish for what it actually was compared to luxury hotels and restaurants that we are used to in NYC. I would have thought staying as a guest for a few days would have counted for something. And I definitely would not plan on wandering in expecting food or drink service after visiting the palace, particularly if you are not staying there. Collapse

We much enjoyed our stay in the Palace building of this beautiful hotel. All staff were friendly, polite and very attentive to the needs of all of us including my 2 year old daughter who had a great time! Our room was beautifully decorated with a gorgeous view of the adjacent park, also seen from the breakfast area. We were very happy with the pool facilities also. We hope to visit again soon - thank you for having us! Collapse

This was an excellent hotel. Breakfast was amazing and the service was exceptional. We only did 4 nights but when we went to check out the receptionist knew our room number without asking. The bedrooms were lovely and big even in the pavillon.

The location is just perfect and you will live the experience of being in a palace, in order to visit a palace. It is convenient to choose a room with views to the Maria Antonieta gardens, you will not regret. That gave me an immersion experience. Rooms in the 3rd floor are better than room on the top floor, higher ceilings and some of them have balconies. Also, you want to stay in the main building. Rooms are quiet. The curtains will not get you any light into the room, unless you want to. Rooms are functional, amazingly decorated and comfortable. If you like firm mattresses, that would be a challenge, you should ask them before arrival so that they can sort it out. All the common areas are great, the spa is good, it´s a good pool. The best time to go is either before 5.30pm or after 7.30pm, so that is not busy. People at reception are great, they also speak Spanish, there is a very nice Argentinian guy. This place is really perfect for business or leisure. Collapse
