The Waldorf Astoria is one of eight Chicago hotels which made the prestigious "Virtuoso Best of the Best Hotels & Resorts" for 2018. This reason, among several others, is why I chose to stay here for a special weekend with my teenage daughters. Full disclosure, I did use my Hilton Honors points to help finance our stay. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, everything was first rate. Fortunately, we were able to check in early, unpack and relax. The sophisticated vibe and excellent location make this hotel perfect for unwinding. It is quiet, nicely appointed and tastefully decorated with a French flare. We were upgraded to a suite which had a fireplace, wet bar, desk area, two flat screen televisions, a small terrace, an oversized bathroom and a half bath. Our suite featured a king bed and separate living room with a pull out sofa bed. It also had a microwave, stocked mini fridge and small freezer with cubed ice. We also had a large coat closet, two smaller closets and loads of dresser space. Needless to say, we had plenty of room to relax and enjoy. Typical amenities are provided: digital alarm clock, iron & ironing board, digital safe, hairdryer, etc. The free WiFi is great and we had no issues connecting or using it. The sophisticated vibe and excellent location make this hotel perfect for unwinding. It is quiet, nicely appointed and tastefully decorated with a French flare. There are two restaurants. The main restaurant is The Margeaux Brasserie which has the ambiance of an established Paris brasserie, serving breakfast, brunch & dinner. We only had late breakfast here and it was very good. The Petit Margeaux is a classic patisserie located right off the lobby. It opens early, serves coffee & espresso, pastries, fruit and the like. It also serves a limited range of cocktails (champagne) in the evening. I noted several locals stopping in for coffee & sweets before beginning their day. I ordered take out coffee from The Petit Margeaux each day. This hotel has a strict "no tipping" policy, but I did leave server tips at the restaurants. My teenagers ordered room service late one evening (cookies, milk & ice cream) and it was delivered quickly and with a smile. We also had to bother room service for utensils one night since we had restaurant leftovers and wanted to enjoy them before leaving. We had nightly turn-down service and the pull out sofa bed was freshly made when we returned for the evening. I cannot explain how happy I was the first night seeing that sofa bed made! This hotel has a complimentary car which will ferry guests anywhere within a two mile radius. Unfortunately, we could never connect with the guest car as it was always out with other guests. This hotel is within walking distance to upscale shopping and many restaurants. Although we did not book any spa services, I did check out the facility. It was beautiful and well-appointed. The candles (available for purchase) smelled amazing. There is an indoor lap pool and fitness room. The cardio room is equipped with treadmills, ellipticals and a Smith Machine. Free weights are also available. There is a separate Pilates Studio where a guest was working with an instructor. If I had time, I would have booked a session here; it looked great. My only complaint would be the lack of a coffee maker in the rooms. That would have made my stay absolutely perfect! Collapse

I live in Chicago but my husband and I were stressed out from work and needed to leave our laptops home and get away. I chose the Waldorf for the combo of fireplace/balcony/insanely nice bathroom with deep marble tub- but I’m writing a review because the customer service was impeccable and the hallways are so quiet. It was a great escape and I would strongly recommend it. Also, if you are from out of town the location is great for shopping and eating. Collapse

We were extremely happy with the staff and accommodations at the Waldorf in Chicago. Location is great and although we didn't use it, there is a complimentary car service. We were very happy with our entire trip.

My wife and I celebrated an anniversary downtown Chicago at the Waldorf. It was a truly top notch experience. Everyone from the Door Man to Front Desk staff, to Spa and Restaurant teams were amazing. The Concierge team (Ben and Amanda) were fantastic, so polite and helpful. They helped me set up some special surprises ahead of time and treated us to some complementary Champaign in our room when we arrived. As a Diamond HH Member we were given a corner top floor upgrade to a Luxury Suite, which was a really nice surprise! We spent a few hours at the Spa - treatments, although pretty standard, were very relaxing and staff knew what they were doing. The locker rooms and Pool were overcrowded so we didn’t spend a whole lot of time post treatments. We moved the relaxation to our suite in front of the fireplace. We had drinks before dinner and breakfast at Margeaux Brasserie - great drink and food menu - very well executed and friendly service. The hotel inside and outside was flawless, lots of attention to detail. And super guest focused!!! We’d stay there again and would absolutely recommend the hotel to others. Thanks again for a fantastic experience!!! Collapse
