I spent the weeks leading up to my holiday feeling so anxious about staying at the W Hotel after reading all of the negative reviews on here, and I really needn't have. The hotel was clean and welcoming, and the location absolutely perfect for our 4 days in the city. I will admit that people who may be more accustomed to the W brand may feel disappointed with the quality of the hotel (compared to others within the city and within the company's portfolio), as a standalone hotel (and for those of us more used to a Premier Inn!) it really was lovely and we couldn't have asked for anything more. We stayed in a Cosy Room - the smallest type. This was just what we needed for a base whilst we explored - plenty of storage space and a bathroom stocked with Bliss Spa goodies! Some people may prefer a much larger room, but as 90% of our time was going to be spent out and about, we didn't need anything more than this - and it certainly wasn't a box room. We had breakfast in the hotel's Heartbeat restaurant, which was all freshly prepared and the waiting staff were so polite and helpful. When we first arrived at the hotel, we did have a bit of a wait to check-in as all reception staff were rushed off their feet, however they were friendly and professional and I don't think you should expect anything more than that. I really do hope that by posting this, I can ease someone else's anxieties about staying here. It is a great little hotel, and as someone who hasn't stayed in a different W hotel before (even though I do prefer the finer things in life - I don't believe in splashing out unnecessarily on a hotel that you'll hardly spend any time in!), even if they were all of the standard of this one, I'd be a happy bunny staying at any of them again. Stayed here for a girls weekend in the winter. The hotel is easy to get to, was clean and the hotel staff were nice and helpful. I think we were expecting more as I'm a loyal SPG member and with the W brand name. It just felt a bit old and not as chic and fun as we were hoping. The lobby bar is nice- good snacks and wine. A complaint I do have is the lack of coffee in the room or lobby. I had to run outside to get Starbucks- would be nice to either have a coffee maker in the room or the ability to grab a cup and bring it back upstairs. Collapse

Booked this hotel through a package with British Airways for a 3 night, 4 day stay in November 2017. Location is brilliant particularly if you are using the City Bus from JFK, as pick up and drop off points are in easy walking distance. Excellently situated as a base for all network options to get you to all the sights of the city. Staff were kind, helpful and attentive. Room was big enough for what was needed (sleeping and refreshing, If you are going to NYC in my opinion you should be spending as much time out in the city exploring rather than sat in hotel room) Room was clean, tidy and comfortable, great shower and good set of toiletries provided. Should I be fortunate to be able to visit NYC again I wouldn't hesitate at booking this hotel again. Collapse

Bit of a late review but stayed here in November 2017 over thanksgiving weekend. The hotel is in a great location, just a few blocks away from Rockafella Centre. The rooms are a little small but to be expected in NYC. But they were very clean and housekeeping came every day. There is no tea/coffee facilities in the room which was a little disappointing however they provide free coffee in the lobby and there is a starbucks right outside. We had lunch in the restaurant on our last day as we only had a little time and it was really delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were always really helpful. We had an issue with our airport transfer and they rang up the company on our behalf and helped us to sort it out. Only issue we had was one of the lifts was broken for the first couple of days which meant there was quite large queues to get in and get up to your room. Once it was fixed everything ran smoothly though. Would definitely stay again. Collapse
