We have just spent two weeks in the Vulcano Hotel and very enjoyable they turned out to be. From the minute we walked into the hotel the service was first class. This standard was maintained throughout our holiday, whether it be in the restaurant, or the bar, or the cleaners of our room. The food was plentiful and well cooked. The tables were well attended by the helpful staff. There is a large entertainment room, which in the evening proved to be very popular with the guests. The acts were of a good standard, some were very good. The organisation of the bar was speedy and efficient, prices were very reasonable as well. Drawbacks. The hotel has just had a complete refurbishment, which is about 90% done. There is still some work still being done but this does not intrude too much. Although the starting time of 8 o'clock in the morning is rather upsetting at times! This did not happen every morning, however. In retrospect, we had a good holiday and we would expect the next time we visit the hotel it will have improved even more Collapse

Just returned from a 7 night stay (February) at the Hotel Vulcano. We booked through TUI back in December 17 and travelled as a family (4 adults) on a Half Board basis. On arrival at the hotel we didn't expect to find a lot of building work going on outside but didn't think anymore of it at the time. Checking In was easy and we were all given a nice cold glass of bubbly. The Reception and Lobby are very nice although we did see a bit of work (painting) being conducted in the Reception. We were given the keys to the room and made our way to the 3rd floor via the lift. The rooms themselves were bright and newly renovated and spacious. The bathroom is very plush and has a good sized mirror. There is a hair drier too. Took a walk around the pool area and there were ample sun beds available although as we found out the best location was on the the tiered patio area next to the outside restaurant. Seemed this got the sun for most of the day up there but you needed to be there early to get a bed. Sun gets around the pool area at about 10:15 and goes down about 17:30. One of the pools is heated although we didn't venture in. In the evening dinner is from 6:30pm and is a buffet. Although the food is nice and plentiful the restaurant does get very busy and it can be difficult to find a table but the waiters did there best to accommodate us. After dinner there is nightly entertainment down on the first floor which consisted of a regular singer/keyboard player and then usually an act of some sort at 22:00. Now the average age of the residents is 75+ so the entertainment is suited to an older generation. I must say that although I'm in my early 50s I didn't expect the entertainment to be more akin to a Tea Dance. After 2 nights of enduring this we decided to look else where outside the hotel and found some good bars with guitar players and singers. Please keep the age of the clientele in mind if you do decide to stay here. One complaint we did have however was that there was a lot of building work ongoing inside the hotel and on our floor. One morning at 07:15 we were awoken by the work men outside the hotel dragging an empty skip into place. The noise was unbearable and not what you'd expect when you come for a rest. We then heard banging from upstairs and this continued until we went for breakfast. Now I can understand that you need to do work but really not to the extent of what we experienced. Some of the other guests did complain to the management about the noise but we heard that they were referred to their rep so don't know what happened there. We were not told by TUI that the hotel was indeed going thru a renovation at the time of booking or at anytime leading up to the start of the holiday. If we had then we would have not stayed here! Overall for what we paid we don't think we had value for money although we couldn't fault the staff for their efforts. We would not return here as there are better valued hotels on offer if you look for them. Collapse

This should be a great hotel once finished but it’s still being renovated. Therefore the low rating. Staff are excellent and work really hard. Food is excellent probably better than other hotels in the area. Busy restaurant but noise levels are ok because of the layout. Plenty sun beds but people go and book their bed really early. They leave towels on beds for long periods without using them . Usually these are in the best areas. Staff should stop this happening. Personally I think the beds are far too close together it’s really difficult to use the umbrellas for shade. When we were here there workmen were working on the roof and work started some mornings at 8am finishing about 6pm. The noise penetrates everywhere. Also the front entrance was being resurfaced and this resulted in a very very unpleasant solvent smell being in reception and our corridor. The outside doors were permanently open and the hotel was cold in all public areas. I know that this is winter there but after out stay in this hotel we moved to another local hotel and it was way way warmer in all public areas. The hotel did not tell us it was still in renovation mode and we booked direct on their website. If there was no renovation in progress I would have given this a higher rating but it spoilt my holiday. Collapse

The newly updated Vulcano is delightful. The amount of work done in a few months is incredible and the outcome unbelievable. Lovely reception area, dining room, pool area bedrooms and bathrooms. I was impressed by walk in shower to replace the old arrangement of shower in bath. We were greeted at reception with Champagne by a staff who were extremly polite, welcoming and helpful not only on arrival but any occasion we had a query while there. We have holidayed in hotel Vulcano for many years and hope to do so for many more. Collapse
