There was a party of 6 of us so 3 double rooms, we got there and the queue was out the door as there was a wedding and we had come to Manchester for an event so it was very busy! One person on the reception desk checking people in! I had checked in and so did one of the other couples and the other couple got to the desk and the hotel had cancelled there room as they had tryed to charge the couples card but it declined...they tryed to call them and they had changed there mobile number! So they just cancelled there room instead of emailing them to confirm the booking they just cancelled there room! The day before we were due to arrive the couple had received a confirmation email and the receptionist had said they cancelled the room 3 days ago! This meant that the couple had to sleep in the car overnight as there was no rooms available. I thought this was hurrendous! Collapse

Booked this hotel as my mate and I were going to Heaton Park to watch Noel Gallagher. Booked a twin room at £120 a night. First off, staff are great, friendly and very chatty! Room was tiny and extremely dated...the bathroom was far too small and having to turn sideways to get out of the door to avoid the toilet isn’t a great sign! If the theme or desired effect is 1970’s chic then the Victoria has nailed it...rooms and overall hotel is quite dated but in their defence it is clean all the way through...that might be helped by the fact the cleaners are hoovering and banging up and down the corridors from 7am so don’t expect a lie in...a cunning plan to ensure prompt check outs... Being a disabled person who uses a wheelchair. I was very disappointed with the hotel and the problems I experienced. So far I have had no response from the hotel about this despite several e mails. On booking I requested a room with disabled facilities and was shown into room 123 with a shower over the bath. I was moved the next day to another room 112 which had a walk in shower but the base was very slippery and no seat or grab rails Although the bathroom was full of grab rails in other positions. I arrived after a long day of traveling and the cleaning staff was so kind to clean my room first so that I could get into my room early and get some sleep. The brekkie was good as well! My only complaint was that the phone in my room didn’t work - otherwise it was clean and good enough for a short stay and I would definitely recommend it and/or stay again if in the area. Collapse

We have stayed at this hotel at least 2/3 times a year, we even held our wedding here in 2007 before it’s renovation. It is convenient location for us to be able to visit family when in Manchester and we like the amenities offered. It is also good value for money. But our last stay in March has changed our opinion, we were booked in whilst visiting for a family funeral. After arriving in our deluxe room! I quickly rang reception to ask if a mistake had been made and we had been put in the wrong room, but I was assured that it was an deluxe room. I’m not sure what made this small room so special. After our long journey we decided to have an early night, upon taking an extra pillow out of the wardrobe, I noticed a 10 inch black hair on it, then there was a couple of hairs on the bed. Then my husband went for a shower and found a hair on the shower wall. I again called reception to complain and was asked if we wanted to move, we decided not to as we were ready for bed, but I was told a manager would be available in the morning. Well a manager was never available when we were in the hotel and nobody came to find us to apologise or explain. We were moved the following day and the receptionist gave us a couple of free drinks vouchers. But still no manager approached us. Upon arriving home, (Cornwall), I decided to write to the hotel to complain and to this day we have not received a reply. I am extremely disappointed and upset with the hotels customer service and it has put me off staying there in the future. We are again visiting at the end of June and have booked at another hotel due to the way we have been ignored. An apology would have gone a long way. Collapse
