Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for a week at the start of April. It’s a good time to visit Dubrovnik as it is not busy like it is in the height of Summer and the weather is perfect for doing walking tours etc (not too warm but still some sunny days). Hotel The hotel is beautiful and has a lovely pool area outside, however we were a bit disappointed that the pool was drained during our stay! There was an indoor pool however on the sunny days the indoor pool was too warm and the chlorine is so strong so we went to the President hotel which is the sister hotel down the road and the pool area is gorgeous there looking out onto the sea. Food Breakfast is perfect as it has everything you would need. It can get a little too busy from around 9 though. Dinner was very hit or miss. There were a lot of fish dishes and we both don’t eat fish but I’m sure this would be great for people who do. The rest of the food was very repetitive so there was always something to eat but it was mostly eating the same things over and over. For example, we had grilled pork chops 4 days in a row and grilled rump steak (which was always cooked rare which I don’t like) 3 days in a row. Pizza was served every night and 3 pasta choices every night so we always had that to fall back on. I was glad we were half board as we could go out for lunch as dinners were getting quite tedious. Staff The staff in the hotel are all very friendly and welcoming. They all speak good English. One issue was that we had lots of ants in our bathroom and one evening there were at least 40-50 on the floor and were also some going up the walls to our towels and coming through gaps in the back of the sink to where our toothbrushes etc were. When I phoned reception to report this I was told they had nothing for it and I had just to wait and tell the cleaner tomorrow. The cleaners didn’t clean our room most days until after 2pm so this would be way over 12 hours of having a room swarming with ants so I didn’t appreciate the service of reception that time which is a shame. Overall the hotel is stunning and I would recommend it. It was a very quiet hotel and was in a great location to get a bus to Old Town easily. Collapse

The hotel is modern and located a short bus ride from the city ( number 6 bus takes you there from the main gate of the old city and is the last stop!) . Room was spotless and wifi excellent. Being located out of town means you are in a green area and able to walk along the beach and through the extensive grounds shared with its sister hotel the President. (Walk over to the President and take the elevator down to the beach using your room card) The view of sunset from the patio is amazing. The hotel caters to tour groups so the 7am breakfast opening is a bit of a stampede but there is lots of food, lots of choice and a staff who keep your coffee cup filled. The buffet breakfast was one of the best I have experienced but get a table in a corner to avoid the high noise levels of the tour groups. I would stay here again and tell my best friends to do so for a wonderful experience. Collapse

This should have been a pleasant stay at a hotel in a lovely location with plenty of amenities. However, it was too hot in our room for me to sleep. The person at the front desk told us we would have to open the windows to cool the room down. The problem with this is that our room is on the ground floor and the only way to let air in is to open the sliding doors to the patio which is shared with the adjacent rooms. There are no screens so any insects or mice in the area could easily come in with the doors open, not to mention the possibility of an intruder coming in the open door. Since my wife is very afraid of mice, I am lying here sweating in the middle of the night unable to sleep. They evidently don’t turn the air conditioning on until later in the year, so I am just out of luck. It is a shame that they care so little for the comfort of their guests since the hotel is so nice otherwise. Collapse

Stayed at Valamar Lacroma for vacations with a friend and we enjoyed our stay here very very much. The hotel installations are quite good, the room is beyond comfy and the balcony has a nice view. Only downsides are: the food at the hotel restaurant is too expensive for what you get and the hotel is not central - but i believe being away from the city fuss is part of the atmosphere there (i rented a car so i had no problems about this). I'd be more than happy to stay there again. Collapse
