I hosted a bridal shower for my sister this month at The Talbot. I had originally reserved ‘Emma’s Room’, but was moved to The Victory room as it would better accommodate the number of guests that were attending. I had the room for five hours and arranged for afternoon tea to be served to the guests, the food and service was brilliant. The room itself is separate from the main building so we had privacy, but were close enough to visit the toilet etc. The room itself is gorgeous, perfect for the elegant shower that I was hoping for. The events coordinator Krystyna was so helpful and answered all of my questions. We were even given a portable speaker on the day to use so we could play some background music. My sister’s wedding is taking place in June at The Talbot and I can’t wait! All in all it is a beautiful and intimate venue, I will definitely keep them in mind for any future events. Collapse

A Loverly hotel in the village of Ripley in Surrey. We visited Woking for shopping we had booked afternoon tea at The Talbot, as my wife was interested in visiting the hotel because of its historical connection with Admiral Nelson. The hotel restaurant was a mix of old and new, walking past the old oak panels in to the modern glass front restaurant overlooking the garden area, which looked really pleasant, unfortunately on our visit it was raining. So I imagine that setting out side on a summers day would be delightful. This did not spoil our visit to the hotel. The afternoon tea was most excellent and good value, in fact we could not eat it all and had to have a few of the cakes to take home. The food was presented well and was of good quality, the service was attentive and friendly, over all a very pleasant visit. Will visit again. Collapse

We were given a two night stay by our daughter ( Saturday and Sunday Night ) We stayed in room 204, quaint and to be fair quiet, but the room was a little dated and the view from the window, looked out on to what looked like a small dumping ground for soil ? The room had no tea spoons to make tea or coffee? the shower head had gaff tape on the shaft to prevent it from sliding down ? The most annoying thing of all was the TV signal or should i say the lack of signal. you could not watch the TV, the picture was in and out of focus, sound coming and going ? When i rang reception the answer i got was that " Thats just the way it is ??" We were there to relax and i would have liked to have watched the F1 Grand Prix highlights ? But to no avail ? The WiFi was good, the room was clean although the bed was a little soft for my liking, but i guess thats just a personnel thing. The staff were friendly although i had to wait 5 minutes for a pint of cider ( there was a wedding venue on ). We didn't eat there but it has got 4 AA stars. It appears to me that they are catering for wedding venues and functions. Breakfast on Sunday morning was a buffet, nothing special the usual bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, black pudding and only scrambled egg which was all available in a bain marie. The breakfast at best was luke warm ? Breakfast on Monday morning was completely different, served on a red hot plate ( Perfect). We were able to choose from a breakfast menu, we had poached egg with our full english and it was very good. Like i said the hotel is best suited for functions, the wedding that took place on the Saturday seemed happy and i think that this is their faute. We probably would not stay there again, but if you were staying to go to a wedding, then i think it's ideal. Collapse
