We stayed here for a break as we had a voucher from virgin. If I would of payed for the stay it would of been a different rating. Our bedroom was in the new building which was a bit of a disappointment as we picked this hotel for its old world charm. The new part is just like a premier inn. The evening meal was part of our package and did not have any trouble picking 2 courses for the price we had. It was served quickly and was pleasant seating area. The bar prices were reasonable although not a great variety of choice as the night before they had had a function and run out of a few things. The room was clean and quite it was warm but there was a fan in the room Collapse

lovely looking place and village seems nice. Had a lovely reception by the man on reception when I arrived. Carpets throughput are very shabby and in need of replacement /cleaning. I had a room at the front and thought it might be noisy but it wasn't too bad so slept quite well. Cups in room were dirty - seen that comment on here as well so clearly they are not taking notice of the complaints - told reception at check out and she was disinterested and didn't even offer an apology. Room was generally ok, not brilliant but ok for a one night short stay. Breakfast was ok, decent choice, had poached eggs on toast which were edible but not perfect! Was glad I hadn't gone there for pleasure and it was just a quick stop over for a business meeting. Collapse
Ok but nothing special!

Stayed for a quick break and it was....well ok. Staff were friendly but room was tired with only one bulb in the bathroom working, dirty drinks cups and some cleaning issues with hairs in the bathroom and on the desk and these weren't ours! Bed was comfortable and it was a quiet room. Breakfast was fine. Does what it needed but again nothing spectacular. Overall it's fine. The price reflects what you expect and with that in mind then it is ultimately very good value for money but just quite basic and a little tired. Collapse

We stayed here on Sunday night for Bed, breakfast and dinner. Nice hotel but food and dirt on floor in restaurant was not good, same crumbs were there for dinner and breakfast. There were cobwebs on lights and the glass in the lights and on the shelves were all grubby, don’t think staff clean very much let alone sweep or wash floors. We were not told that dinner on Sunday was a reduced menu and I had rung to check that they did dinner on Sunday prior to booking and was just told they did, they did not mention it was not the menu shown on the website, if they had I would have booked a different night. When we arrived in the room they had the normal dinner menu for us to look at and it was not until we got to the restaurant that we discovered we could not have anything that we had already decided we wanted , so very disappointed. Dinner was nice even though choices were restricted. Breakfast was the worst I have ever had, it was so small and looked ridiculous on the plate, it was over cooked with hard poached eggs. My husband s gluten intolerant and I had rung ahead to warn them for breakfast but still there was no gluten free sausage available (they are readily available in all supermarkets) so he asked for some extra bacon, so his consisted of nearly 2 rashers of bacon, 1 fried egg, spoon of beans, a few mushrooms and half a tomato. Room was dusty and just surface cleaned. It is a shame as it could be a nice hotel. Collapse
