This hotel carries a 5* rating which in my opinion is grossly overrated. We checked in very late after our flight was delayed. The room allocated had a king size bed and a "camp" bed installed. This was mainly due to a function within the hotel which commandeered the only restaurant in the hotel and obviously relegated even early bookers to "second" rate accommodation. We were reallocated another room, one we specified in our booking, the next day, only to be placed next to a family with multiple screaming children and a connecting door to our room, so yet again we had to be relocated. The staff in this hotel really need a crash course in customer care and planning. They should be forward thinking when locating families and other guests. They don't even provide sufficient toiletries for two guest. One tiny shampoo, one conditioner, and one shower gel. They should be trained to see the number of guests per room and supply the required amount of toiletries. The breakfast the first day was chaotic. It was located in a function room because again the "private party" had been allocated the dining room. The staff while pleasant didn't have a clue. On the Monday morning once the dining room was available for general guests the staff were also inappropriately dressed to escort guests to a breakfast table, especially for a 5* hotel restaurant. We had to request our coffee as the staff again, walked about like headless chickens. There was however, one older member of the dining room staff who was both efficient, polite and effective. The manager of this hotel, a member of a well respected group needs to look seriously at how his/her staff functions. It advertises a spa, however it is only a very small pool and a sauna for 1. The gym is very poorly equipped. The hotel itself is badly dated and "tired" and badly needing a refurbishment. The rooms and bathrooms are like something out of the 1960s. I will certainly NOT be returning. Collapse

Take a catchers mitt to breakfast, you'll need it as I had poached eggs thrown at me, twice. More comical than distressing! Hair in my crab linguini, a classic restaurant faux pas (I don't have black curly hair), along with about a gallon of oil. That said, most of the serving staff in the restaurant were very amenable and professional; however the lady with the crazy blonde hair could maybe take some notes from her colleagues, just plain rude! Checkout was a nightmare for myself and a number of my business associates, the bill was wrong and took a lot of sorting out. Then, once I had returned home I checked my account only to find further charges debited that I had no notice of at checkout, and had not approved. Called to discuss but was dealt with very abruptly had phone slammed down on me mid sentence... Good customer service is key to being a hotelier, If you don't like it, a career change might be in order...Shame! Collapse

This place is at the top end of the cost bracket for Swansea hotels and, as some others have said, is looking a bit tired in places. More of that later... However, it is in a great location right next to the beach (if you have a car) otherwise it is a bit of a walk through town from the station. Before looking at a few issues I must say that the staff were excellent and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent, of a high quality and cooked beautifully. They do a fantastic breakfast cooked by a wonderfully enthusiastic chef. The spread is as good as any hotel of its kind. The room was spacious - the angle the hotel is built at can mean that you get a slant view of the marina and the sea so room choice is important. Yes, I think the place is looking tired. We had a badly cracked sink, a front door that would not open fully as the cupboard was in the way. Broken window latches with extreme condensation on the windows and even a broken room lamp. This is poor and speaks of lack of attention to detail and maintenance. I would have asked for a refund if the staff had not been as good as they were and the food service excellent. So in this sense it is a bit overpriced. Still we enjoyed our stay and it provided what we needed. Collapse

Having previously worked and stayed in this property it’s awfully sad to see that the cleanliness and overall appearance has deteriorated so the years. A fantastic location but the obvious lack of investment in the properties upkeep and training in the housekeeping department isn’t acceptable in 2019. Disappointing indeed. Collapse

Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting a friend in hospital. Hotel is well positioned close to the centre of Swansea but with good views out over the bay. We had a deluxe double double guest room with a view out over the Marina on the 4th floor. It was nice and large and had a sofa and armchair for relaxing. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with a good shower etc. There was also a desk for work if needs be with USB charging points. Free wifi was available and it was a high speed connection. We ate in the hotel restaurant on one night, it was very quiet due to the New Year holiday period bu the food was good and plentiful. We also had breakfast every day - buffet for cereals toast etc and a hot food area where eggs were cooked to order plus plenty of bacon, sausage etc in warming trays. Staff were very attentive and kept everything filled. There is free car parking at the hotel you just have to give your registration number when you check-in. Collapse
