We stayed in the Sungardens hotel early may and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the are a huge number of positive points: - rooms are spacious (we stayed in the residences) and immaculately clean - hotel grounds are huge and well maintained - sports centre and gym is best I've come across - being 15 mins from old town it's peaceful and tranquil - helpful staff - Wi-Fi works everywhere - spectacular views and nice walks - shops on site, choice of restaurants of which la pasta and cilantro were both great and not a total rip off for a hotel So why not a 5 star review? I just felt as a 5 star hotel and a member of the leading hotels of the world that the hotel was just missing a little finesse: - I thought breakfast was pretty poor in terms of buffet options and quality, as well as slow service - the buffet dinner option at origano was lukewarm, poor quality and expensive at £30 per person - I recommend avoiding and going to one of the other restaurants - a lot of the restaurants were not opened as it's "off season" but I don't think this was well communicated also only 2 of 3 pools opened - spa over run by kids - is imagine that during peak season the hotel would get extremely busy So overall I'd recommend, but I think the hotel could sharpen up a few things to deliver a better experience, given it's 5 star billing Collapse
Great holiday but attention to detail needed

Stayed for our first family holiday with our 4 month old at the beginning of May. The good: - the resort is massive, plenty of open space, you certainly do not feel penned in! - the grounds are well kept and clean - the hotel is of a high standard and is decorated and maintained to a high standard (and everywhere smells really nice!) - the spa is amazing, a great place to escape in the daytime if it’s too hot outside for a baby, the treatments were fantastic and the spa staff excellent, we could not fault the spa service at all. Children are allowed in the spa until 5pm - the rooms are nice and are cleaned thoroughly every day, the room cleaning staff are to be commended (rooms on the left hand side of the hotel will get the sun in the afternoon) - the restaurants “la pasta” and “cilantro” offer some really tasty dishes - buffet breakfast is good - shuttle bus service to Dubrovnik old town is a great service - the grocery store on site is a good spot for an ice cream and cold drink - pool staff are polite and friendly - the Maraska bar is great - breakfast boxes for an early departure are provided and were very welcome The not-so good: - the evening buffet in “Origano” whilst offering some nice dishes, these were lukewarm and often very salty - the buffet breakfast missed some sparkling wine/prosecco - room cards!!! These stopped working constantly which meant trips up and down to reception to have them reactivated - we had ants in our room and it took two days to arrange a room change. The hotels first option was to vacuum up the ants..... this made little difference, but when we showed photos of ants in our bed we were moved to a suite. The suite was amazing, but we were given little help to move all our luggage etc to the new room which was frustrating - most staff were very polite and helpful, a small number however were not very courteous or friendly On the whole it was a great stay, just a couple of points that meant we couldn’t give the full 5 stars. We would stay again. Great for a babymoon! Any questions please ask Collapse

Water views, pools and large grounds to visit. Rooms are very modern and clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great shuttle to the old town for a few Euros. Balcony is large and facing the sea. Fast free WiFi available.

The things I liked - the location is beautiful and within easy distance of Dubrovnik old town - Uber was easy to get to & from Lovely grounds - huge areas, lovely pools (2 were open 1 empty) Spa was very nice (except screaming kids) Staff on the whole were friendly & helpful Things I didn’t like - may it seems is still out of season so it was only half open, staff seem to be waking up after hibernation Restaurants opened when they felt like it with no notification of when open or closed & reception staff said we should have asked them if the buffet restaurant was open tonight although it had been yesterday :-( The boat shuttle than was advertised when booking as the easy way to get into town was in fact only running once a day so if the time didn’t suit then tough luck The bedding was like sandpaper All in all I think the resort is very nice and probably a much better place when fully up & running - had we known this we may have come later on - although having it pretty empty had its upsides too! More of a 4 Star out of season Collapse

I was lucky enough to attend a conference in April at the Sun Gardens Dubrovnik. I stayed for 5 nights in one of the hotel rooms with a lovely view over the sea. The rooms are spacious, with balconies and all amenities you would expect in a hotel of this standard. Staff were friendly and helpful and I would definitely return with my family. Recommend to anyone visiting Dubrovnik if you don’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of the Old Town. It’s a 20 minute taxi drive out of the centre but taxis are easy to get and good value. Great hotel, wonderful experience. Collapse
