olplay is a nice place. That's why we come back again and again - two weeks this time. This time we had invited our two daughters, in-law children and grandchildren, we were 10 people in total in 3 apartments. They were as enthusiastic as we are, and they are sure they will return to Solplay. They are good and service minded at the front desk - someone more than others. The cleaning in the apartments is very good and done by friendly staff. The staff in the resturant are friendly and smiling, perhaps due to recognition. Several of the staff were there the first time we visited Solplay. We hope to come back soon! Collapse

This was our first time in Portugal and loved the holiday. The hotel lacks nothing by way of facilities- indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, health spa, very well equipped gym and 2 restaurants. The choice in the main restaurant was a bit limited but the buffet choice was very good. The pool bar/ restaurant served good selections of food which could be bought at any time - even by was of room service. I was impressed by the size of our apartment which had everything you could think of - even a washing machine. We arrived at 2am and their records showed we were a party of 2 but there was actually 3 of us. This meant the 3rd bed for my son hadn't been made up. The man on reception was brilliant and actually made the bed himself for us and brought the extra bath robe and towels and toiletries for my son. I would have expected the bed to be made but he went above and beyond at this time of night. The only down side to the hotel could be the location. We didn't have a car and the hotel isn't in a resort so quite a walk to the nearest bars. There is a free shuttle service into Lisbon which is excellent but that restricts you to a 10am start. We found a short cut to the train station which was very handy and taxis aren't too expensive. The location didn't spoil the holiday it just meant more walking - fine for the adults but this didn't always go down well with my 10 year old. Saying that he loved the holiday - the hotel is very child friendly. Also despite the hotel being full it really didn't feel overcrowded at all. In fact after breakfast it felt fairly quiet and there was never a problem finding a sunbed or parasol by the pool. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Collapse

Generally we were really satisfied with this hotel. Staff is very polite and friendly, service is on top. We booked for 3 persons, later needed to add another person,. Within minutes they found us another room where we all 4 could stay. Rooms are kept tidy - daily being cleaned very thoroughly. The first cleaning round is in the morning, and if we missed that there was still a chance at noon to get our room cleaned, just by using the cleaning indicator at the door. We had a 2 bedroom with a very big balcony, the view was amazing. Both the big bridge, pool area and sea could be viewed at once. The only bad thing I could point out is lack of furniture in one of the bedroom and the living room. In one of the bedroom there was no drawer or anywhere to put clothes, however only a closet in the hall. The living room was not fitted for a large group sitting at the TV or table. However this was no problem as the balcony had a big table and chairs for everyone. The possibility to sit inside and being comfortable would be a nice addition though Breakfast is really good and big variety of food to choose from and best of all is open to late morning (10:30). At the closing time for breakfast, the staff will ask if you need anything else from the breakfast buffet. Generally the staff is very polite and friendly. Pool area is nice and clean, however the poolbar was a bit too expensive for us. Towels are being handed free of charge from the reception,. If you wish to have a new one you can simply replace it using your towel card. Fitness room is very well equipped with good machines for both weight loss, running, cycling, body building, muscle gain, boxing bag and so on.. Parking at the hotel is good, was often able to park right in front, and if no spots are free there, the parking garage is quite big, however can be a bit tricky to avoid the pillars. All in all a very nice place to stay for the price. Friendly staff and everyone is very serviceminded. Would definitely visit again! Collapse

I have been staying at the Solplay for over 9 years. This last visit in July was great as always. The upgrades on the property are really nice! If you need a place to base you and your family while visiting Lisbon and the surrounding areas the Solplay is great. The apartments each have a full kitchen, clothes washer and dryer and are very comfortable. The river view is worth the extra cost! It is great to be able to come back to your room and have some groceries in the pantry, drinks in the refrigerator, etc. Collapse

Our family (two adults and three children aged 12,10 and 8) had a great time here. Pools were great. Indoor pool for windy days was a great alternative. Staff were excellent Rooms were thoroughly cleaned and made up each morning and all reception and bar staff were charming and really helpful. Good tennis court and small cinema ideal for our children. Breakfast buffet was delicious with lovely fresh fruit, pastries etc. Wifi worked well for us. Our two bed apartment (#322) was lovely. We did not have a pool view but we had a gorgeous westerly aspect and lovely sunny evenings with beautiful views.(We spent the day touring or at the pool so in retrospect evening sun was a bigger priority!) (You are also within striking distance of Lisbon via free hotel shuttle at 10.00. If not eating at the hotel or self catering, then I would recommend eating in Lisbon and returning later by train to Alges and getting a taxi for 7 euro to the hotel.) You can also get the train for a really nice day trip to the beautiful resort town of Cascais. (Walk for 12 minutes down hill to Cruz Quebrada train station you arrive literally at the beach! On way home, get a taxi from Alges train station.) This is a quiet 'resort' aparthotel ideal for our family who wanted to relax while also being able to shop and visit the cultural highlights of Lisbon... and Cascais. We REALLY enjoyed it! (Finally, if travelling with kids then do not go near Sintra in July... Crazy busy and not for children. I suspect Sintra could be nice in May or October (for a couple) but mass tourism and consequent congestion is very bad for this beautiful town.) Collapse
