Just back from a 9 night stay at The Sheraton La Caleta. We were very impressed from the outset. Lovely welcome on arrival, upgrade of our room due to construction work being carried out, a call to check that our room was ok. ( It was more than ok - very spacious & exceptionally clean.) Loved the bathroom . During our stay we enjoyed excellent breakfasts. The omelettes need a special mention & overall, there was a fantastic choice. Breakfast served until 11 am which we really appreciated. Evening buffet was as good as we have had .Didn’t try the other restaurants but will next time. Pool area was spacious, no probs asking for extra towels , loads of sun loungers. Really don’t know why people still feel the need to reserve them as they were plenty. La Caleta is lovely & pretty much unspoilt . Hope it manages to stay that way. We particularly enjoyed the beach bar Coqueluche with live music 5.30 to 7.30. Great drinks & food at reasonable prices. Loved our stay & will return. Attention to detail was very much in evidence Only negative is that there is very limited live music. ( 2 nights with a pianist - lovely but a bit sedate. Collapse

TLDR: Great resort and location on Tenerife. Professional staff with great Platinum benefits. Highly recommend and echo many of the positive reviews here. This is a Platinum review for the Sheraton La Caleta Tenerife, Spain during the first week of May. I scoured reviews between the two island resorts Tenerife and Los Palmas, La Caleta was a good deal because they were still a Cat 4 award redemption. The surrounding area also offered great day trips. Transportation from TFS to the resort is available by metered taxis for roughly 30-euro one way. Cabify and Uber are currently not available. I think Cabify will be soon. We used it in Madrid and it was smooth as butta. I reached out to the hotel a few times before arrival and received prompt responses. I wanted to have something delivered to the room before my wife checked in and they were able to accommodate. Unfortunately, they couldn’t offer an earlier check-in and was delayed quite a bit. They offered my wife lunch at the restaurant. Kudos to the lovely ladies at the front desk they were always very professional and helpful. After the delayed check-in, we were upgraded to a club king room with ocean views. The property didn’t seem that busy, and I recall seeing suites available for booking but alas we were still given a nice room. The king room had the whole expanded bathroom you would expect from a resort, the balcony overlooked the pools and ocean. Didn’t have any issue with noise echoing throughout the property. Coffee, tv, and internet all worked great. At check-in we took the upgraded breakfast to the buffet in the restaurant. Good thing because they don’t offer anything in the lounge during breakfast. The lounge is on the ground floor and is open all day. There are rotating snacks, Nespresso coffee machine with a variety of pods, water, and a soda fountain machine. Lounge breakfast, as mentioned earlier didn’t have anything except some croissant. The buffet was in the restaurant by the poolside. It was quite expansive from the salad, cheese, meats, and fruit bars. The egg/omelet station was on point and Dana (Diana?) made the best omelets. I’m still salivating about the omelets she made. I wish her the best and a raise. Be sure to ask for double bacon. You have other options such as the bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal. My one complaint is the coffee machines, something tasted off about everyone I tried. Not sure if they added powder or some other artificial milk from the machine. I finally found the double espresso and adding milk separate was best. Fresh juices and decent brut champagne were plenty and delicious. Between 6-8pm every night at the lounge they offer tapas, vegetables with dip, and alcoholic beverages (assortment of wine, middle shelf liquor and beer). The lounge has a great terrace area that is separated from the rest of the property outside. It wasn’t too busy during our visit. Staff on duty were polite and professional. The concierge and travel experts were incredibly helpful. We had some ideas what to do but it was clear those were not the best. We ended up renting an Avis vehicle from the terminal directly located in the hotel for 42 euro, including insurance. I met the Avis rep right in the lobby and we did a quick rundown of the contract, vehicle and returning it the next day at the hotel. The hotels location is great and for a full day trip you can see the Teide mountain, cable car (get there before 2:30pm for last tickets). The Dragon tree gardens and Los Gigantes. It’s a full day of driving but it’s way cool to see it all. We were able to do a short hike around Teide while waiting our turn for the cable car. Back to the hotel: the resort has a Spa and fitness center on the lower level. The gym is small but just enough to get some exercise and strength training in. Only a few treadmills, stationary bikes, and several machines. The Spa offers complimentary access within the first 3 days of your reservation to the sauna, ice room, relaxation pools, jacuzzi, and showers. Supposedly, if you’re a SPG credit card holder you get an additional complimentary visit, otherwise $12 per person. Poolside has an abundance of lounge chairs but I could see serious limitation when it’s busy. The resort doesn’t have direct access to the beach. The rear door goes to the boardwalk going into town. The Riu next door has chairs set up directly on the beach. Plenty of restaurants and bars at the hotel. Two locations offer a 10% discount on meals. The other 3 do not, we ate at the lunch location by the last pool. Pizza and a pasta, both were hearty proportions and very tasty. Would recommend. I’m sure the other restaurant is just as good if not better. The Go Green option is limited to 3 nights in a row for $5 or 500 points/pn. Not bad. No laundry facility on site to do your own, not sure on the cost per article when given to housekeeping. Tennis courts and rackets are available for rental, didn’t get the prices or complimentary access for Platinum members. Our 5 night stay was great with plenty to do from walking into town or lounging at the resort. We enjoyed the leisurely pace and tranquility of the island. If there weren’t so many places to see we would return for a second trip! Collapse

Another long weekend at this lovely hotel. I've reviewed this hotel before, so the main points are: *Great location, front-line hotel *Beautifully kept grounds and pools *All of the staff are efficient, professional and very friendly, especially Jolana (pool bar) and Maria (Club Breakfast)...make a point of finding them, as their smiles definitely set you up for the day:-) *The rooms are very spacious - we splashed out and had a Premier Suite, which has a panoramic ocean view, sunbeds on your own private terrace etc....well worth it. There is a beach bar and restaurant 5 minutes walk, out of the back of the hotel and turn right towards Caleta - menu looked good and they have plenty of seating Carry on walking and you come to Caleta, which has multiple really good restaurants, serving the largest range of fish I've seen (most of them unidentifiable to me, but looked amazing.....definitely worth the short walk. Head in the other direction for a decent beach, with plenty of sand and better for families with small children. I was pleased to see that they have put in a new pavement that will run from Caleta to Playa del Duque (they are completing the final bit, hence some negative reviews about noise).....we honestly tuned it out and concentrated on having a good time, plus they don't work on it at weekends. By the time you read this it will probably be completed anyway. If you've never been to this hotel then give it a go, you won't be disappointed. Collapse

This is a lovely hotel and have been coming here for years but avoid it at the moment, it’s like a building site with construction of the adjacent flood channel going on, starts at 0830 until after 1800 (Mon-Fri) if you come here you will need a good pair of noise cancelling earphones. It’s a shame that this kind of activity isn’t better handled next door to what is a very nice Spa resort Collapse
