We stayed at Sheen Falls lodge for 3 nights on our recent trip to Ireland. I had read about it in a travel magazine. The setting of the hotel is so picturesque! We had an upgraded room with a balcony that overlooked the falls. Sitting on the balcony, reading and hearing the falls was so relaxing. Our room was enormous. The room had a foyer area and then a second door. Every hotel should have that because it provides more quiet from the hallway. Not that we ever heard anything. We did the wine tasting with the sommelier in the hotel cellar. Being a wine "geek", I thoroughly enjoyed this and it was a bargain at 30 euro per person. The hotel also set up Falconry for us and horse riding. Both were a lot of in. The breakfast was a selection of cereal, fruit, croissants etc on a buffet and then they had full breakfast/hot items to order. Dining is right by the falls and the room had lovely views. There was also a patio for outdoor eating off the bar. We did not go out there because people can smoke outside in Ireland which is disappointing for us non-smokers. I would absolutely go back to Sheen Falls Lodge. Not a place to miss! Collapse

If for nothing else this hotel deserves top marks for its unique and perfect location. The views of the Bay and the Waterfall are spectacular and it is one of the nicest settings I have ever stayed. There are many positives to this hotel- charming decor, friendly staff, wonderful areas to sit around and relax, good breakfast, large well appointed rooms with wonderful well chosen furnishings, Elemis bathroom products. valet parking, great breakfast, horse riding on site, fishing, shooting and falconry available. There are bicycles available and should you wish to bring your dog they have kennels. Improvements: the paintwork in our room could do with a spruce in places in the corners and bathrooms, the windows are hard to open and the shower is in a bath so take this into account if you are an older guest. These are merely suggestions which we filled into our guest review form and they did not negatively impact our stay but are noteworthy. May seems to be the time of year when improvements are done in the hotel and the tennis court was being improved and the stairwell was being painted which although understandable is not ideal. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future. Collapse

My wife and I stayed for three nights in the thatched Garden Cottage, which is set in its own private grounds, next to the hotel, with a gated drive and overlooking the bay. The cottage is well appointed with two large bedrooms, two large bathrooms and a living area with cooking facilities. We didn’t use the cooking facilities or any of the many foodstuffs provided (tea, coffee, milk, eggs, bread, cereals, fruit, wine, etc.) but ate in the restaurant. We chose the bistro menu and had some of the best meals we have ever enjoyed – I still rave about the burger – it was the nicest burger I have ever had. The staff were knowledgeable, professional and friendly and not overbearing, remaining virtually invisible until you need them. The hotel is excellently placed to enjoy the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara (don’t miss Healy Pass). Sadly, we had to return the key. Collapse

I was here almost 20 years ago my first of many visits to Ireland. My husband and I decided to return because we thought the place was magical. No more . Walking into the hotel right away I knew by the reception that it was not the same the young woman was business like. The public areas have been changed and the service although pleasant enough Is lacking the charm it once had. The dining room is off putting and cold the waiters while pleasant do not know the wines or the menu Items. Ours was having difficulty with English. My beef fillet was not hot almost room temperature the presentation was not there. While there are pianos no one played. They use to at dinner. In the bar after dinner we met another couple who confessed they had the same feelings. Several years ago the lodge changed owners But unfortunately did not transfer gracious charm and ambiance of old. We booked two nights here I wish it had been one. Collapse

We recently stayed at the magical Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare and I can honestly say, I have never stayed in a place like it. We had been recommended it by a friend for an option for our stay-at-home honeymoon and we were not disappointed in choosing so. Location wise, it is set in some of the most beautiful countryside I've ever had the pleasure of seeing (and I'm from County Clare!). It's pretty much round the corner from the Caha Pass, a place I didn't even know existed until we were driving through it and am I'm glad we did. Stunning, breath-taking scenery for miles! From the entrance to the lodge, the very warm welcome & quick check in service, the staff made us feel like VIP's & chatting to other guests during our stay, it was clear that the staff made all the guests feel like that. Having both worked for many years in the service industry, it was refreshing to see staff genuinely enjoying & taking such pride in their work, a rare find nowadays. Our room,157, overlooked the spectacular falls, room was enormous & exceptionally clean, turn down service was a lovely touch & the accommodation staff were ever present should you need anything additional. We had some spa treatments booked during our stay, which were amazing, and Marie, the massage therapist is a total gem. I really enjoyed my treatment with her, such a great personality & highly skilled person. Breakfast was delicious every morning, huge variety on offer, both self serve & kitchen fresh. We had our first experience of an afternoon tea too, which was excellent, I'm only disappointed I couldn't finish it! We ate dinner on our last evening there and the whole meal was delicious, could not find fault anywhere. We had piano entertainment that turned into a bit of a sing song & personally, my favorite part of our experience there. It was a sad day when we were leaving, oh the depression of going back to reality after our wedding but I can honestly say that the staff at Sheen Falls made our stay there magical & we look forward to returning for our anniversary next year.
