Sercotel Amister Art Hotel enjoys an exceptional location, a 20-minute walk from the centre of Barcelona, close to the trade fair and convention centre. Ideal for discovering Barcelona’s most lively side, infiltrating the rhythm of its citizens, sometimes frantic, sometimes calm. Do as they do and rent a bicycle to get to the heart of the city in 10 minutes instead of taking the metro (2 stops, 15 minutes). Getting to know the modernist Barcelona of Gaudí, the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas or Passeig de Gracia is, at any time of day, a treat not to be missed.
Sercotel Amister Art Hotel offers you an enjoyable, practical and comfortable experience thanks to the comfort of its rooms and facilities. Facilities include molton brown amenities, complimentary wireless internet, 32’ satellite led TV, telephone, air conditioning, heating, mini-bar, safe, hairdryer and pillow menu.
In a typical 1940s building of Barcelona’s Eixample district that still has its original facade and wrought iron gate, stands Sercotel Amister Art Hotel. After extensive restoration and renovation of this former family residence, its owners, collectors of contemporary art, decided to use it as an artistic space, a place to exhibit “Art”. As well as the exhibition of paintings and sculptures, customers of Sercotel Amister Art Hotel can enjoy a unique feature, which is the screening of one of the largest private collections of video art through a unique channel in your room and also on the screen in the lounge area.

Barcelona in two days. 2 day tram tickets made it easy to get around. Hotel reception staff very helpful and gave us tram and street maps. Breakfast staff very slow, we were kept waiting for clean plates and food to be topped up at buffet. On day 2 we felt waitress was ignoring us and gave up waiting for hot food order to be taken although the restaurant was very quiet. Bus touristic was an excellent way to see the city and get information on places to see. A highlight was the evening catamaran sail with live jazz music from the Port of Barcelona. Collapse

The location of the hotel was not in the heart of a busy tourist area so it was nice to enjoy. Some good walking to main attractions, but also more hole in the wall restaurants nearby to walk to at night. Room size was great. The bathroom was huge, and the room was spacious. Bed was comfortable and lobby was very nice and clean. Internet was good and speedy as well. Did not use it, but there is a pool, albeit small on the roof. Collapse

Nice Small friendly hotel situated about 20 mins walk from Las Ramblas,Good size rooms especially for families , clean and tidied each day. Metro service just around the corner at Hospital Clinic about 8-10 mins walk and a very good area for decent food, quality restaurants including Don Tomato, La Capriccusio and the magificient Paco Meralgo all within 10-20mins Walk, no need for the taxi.Hotel pool is very small and more like the size of a jaccuzzi but as a base and if you are eating out in the evenings then this hotel is good very for money. Situated about 20 walk from the top of La Ramblas, this is a decent hotel to use as a base to explore Barcelona. Easily accessible - 2 x metro stations within 0.5 mile. Staff very good & helpful Rooms are big & reasonably well appointed Good value especially if you book early Air con in the room didn't really work which could be a problem in the height of summer Note the roof top pool is very small - more of a puddle. The bar next to it is supposed to open daily from 7.30 but we never saw it open. Enough local restaurants & bars with a 10 minute walk. Also decent bakeries f you decide not to pay the €15pp breakfast fee. Overall this was a perfectly acceptable base to explore. Collapse

I was looking forward to staying at this hotel as the photos and reviews looked very impressive, here are a few things you should be aware of. I’d say that in comparison to other hotels I’ve stayed in , this one is over priced for the amenity’s, the staff were fairly helpful but when we spoke to the director he was pretty rude when we complained about the lack of air con. I mean what woman would want to get changed/ sleep with a window open when you have a main road and a construction site opposite? Have a look at other hotels in the area, you’ll get more value for money. Building site - There is the construction of a new block of flats/ hotel right next to this hotel looking now at other reviews it’s been going on for at least a year and isn’t showing signs of stopping! The photos don't really include this, so be prepared for construction noise from early morning to early evening. For anyone staying in the rooms next to the main road it’s pretty loud, also this is very loud whilst on the rooftop bar so makes for a less than relaxing experience. Bedrooms- We booked a room to sleep three, the room itself was nice enough and the bathroom was spacious, however all they’d done was add a cot bed into the space where the bedside table had been which was disappointing as I’d have expected three actual beds. This room is comfortable for two people but it’s a push to accommodate three and becomes very cramped. The bathroom is always very warm also as there isn’t any real air conditioning in it and what air-conditioning IS available in the rooms is at the mercy of the hotel director. This means that if they decide to, it will only blow hot air OR cold – which you’ll appreciate in a room with 3 people and a construction site/ main road outside, opening the windows ( which was the suggestion when we complained to the hotel director ) Isn’t the best solution for this problem so we had no air con for 2 out of the 3 days we stayed. Roof top bar-There IS one on the roof but it isn’t open at the moment, I think it does opens in the summer however. If you want to have a drink on the roof, you must ring the bell for a waiter to come and take your order and they will go away /make the drink and return with it. It’s easier to just bring up your own and store it in the mini fridge in your room, which you can purchase from the local “supermarcat” across the road ( you’re welcome). As for the pool, well… Let’s say that if you pushed off from the edge you’d hit your head in the other side, it’s about the size of a large Jacuzzi and could only accommodate 4/5 people at most . With the construction site opposite I can’t see many people taking advantage of the pool/ sunbeds, but with enough alchohol anything is fun! Checking in/ out- When we arrived it was around 11am, we were told check in wasn’t until 2pm but if we paid an extra 10 euros per room we could go in early, most hotels I’ve stayed in just let you in and don’t charge for it! Also there is a “city tax “which we had to pay, this was 1.80 euro a day, per person and per room. By the time we checked out, we owed an extra 47 euros between the five of us (over two rooms) and that was without air con for two days ! Collapse
