Hotel is handily located in the town and the free underground parking is a huge bonus. Check-in was easy and staff were very friendly. Room was small, but was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and had a good shower. There was water and tea making facilities provided in the room. We had dinner in the hotel, food was great but service wasn't up to scratch. We stood at the restaurant entrance at dinner waiting to be seated for quite some time, there was no-one behind the bar to seat us. There was a member of the lobby staff walking past, but he didn't get anyone to attend to us. One of the receptionists then walked past and got a member of the restaurant staff to seat us. Food was good and reasonably priced, we got desserts menus but we were fed up of waiting for someone to take our orders so didn't bother to order dessert. Same thing happened at breakfast with waiting to be seated, they really need to have someone standing or checking the restaurant entrance regularly. Breakfast was good, buffet selection with everything that we wanted. Would stay here again, really convenient location and good price but the restaurant service needs to be improved. Collapse

I booked Scotts as a surprise for my Partners 50th. I chose it because of Location and the Suite Rooms looks lovely. I booked it through Scotts own website and added dinner for one of the nights on to the booking. When we arrived the receptionist had no record of our booking and couldn't find it on their system (despite me having a conformation email from them) he then asked me to email it to them so he would have record of it. There was a short wait while he had the last available suite room made up for us. While waiting we booked to have dinner that evening. When we got to the room we decided to have tea and coffee but as there were no tea bags, we had to request them. They were delivered a few minutes later. On the first evening we went out to explore the town and came back to have dinner, when we came down to the restaurant it was in darkness and seemed closed. I asked a staff member who was there about our reservation and we were told that we must have been booked into the bar, we went into the bar and were seated in a snug area with ripped seating and were disappointed as this was not the restaurant experience we had booked. We had our dinner which was fine but overshadowed by the Atmosphere. The next day we went for a walk around the lakes of Killarney and when we got back decided to freshen up with Showers/Baths only to discover that we had been left short of Towels. I found someone from housekeeping on the corridor and was told that they were aware of this and towels would be sent up. Towels arrived 15mins or so later. We ate elsewhere that evening and came back to the Hotel after 11pm for a drink, there were kids playing football in the lobby and there didn't seem to be any member of staff asking them to stop. We finished our drinks and went to our room. We decided to order breakfast in the room for our departure day so we filled in the card and popped it on the door. Breakfast arrived the next morning at the requested time. We noticed that the orange juice had been left off the order and when we took the lids from the Bowls that should have contained Porridge they were empty. We called reception and the items were sent up. On Check out The receptionist took my room key and just rattled off the amount owed, we weren't asked how our stay was etc.. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that they were probably in meetings (it was sunday morning) I insisted and a manager came out to speak with me. She was a pleasant lady and took all of the above on board she said that the restaurant doesn't open on Fridays and Guests prefer to eat in the Pub. I explained that as it was a special occasion I would have preferred to have been told that the restaurant was closed that evening and we could have changed our plans around so we could have eaten out on the Fri and in the hotel on Sat. She said that there had been a christening in the hotel the previous day and that is where the football playing children had come from she said she had asked them to stop playing football in the lobby the previous evening. She offered me a discount on my bill which I thanked her for but made it clear that I would have preferred to pay full price for the experience I had expected. Scotts is a pleasant hotel and if the issues that we experienced hadn't occurred I would recommend it as Bar food was ok and the room was nice and the Bathroom was both clean and large but due to the list of issues we experienced I couldn't recommend it as it just didnt live up to the 4 star level it portrays itself as. It was a very disappointing experience and left us both regretful that we hadn't booked somewhere else. Collapse

Cant fault the hotel for anything, convenience, food, drink and location. Rooms were massive and very comfortable bedding. Hotel staff very helpful and the breakfast was very filling and great choices.
