We spent Christmas and New Year at Florida Hotel. Lovely hotel with first class staff. Not far from Carrefour supermarket where there is a cash machine (some other ATMs were closed). The town is immaculate very clean and spacious. There is a road and railway between the hotels and the beach but there is a pedestrian underpass. The railway was not noisy. Collapse

After reading some of the other reviews I was in two minds about this place, but went ahead and booked anyway. We arrived late at night and the reception desk was manned and we got our room quickly and efficiently and went straight to bed. The following morning we awoke late with around half an hour to the end of breakfast. This was the worse part of the entire holiday. If you leave it late to eat breakfast you cannot get a table in the dining room. We eventually found one with around 10 minutes to spare. The food was acceptable but cold and as soon as the clock struck 10 what was left was whisked away and the coffee & Juice machines turned off. That was day 1. We then went up to the pool area and although there were signs saying that reserving sunbeds wasn't allowed a lot had been covered with towels and no-one was occupying them. It wasn't a problem however, as they had plenty of sun beds spare. There is a poolside bar which serves toasties, burgers and chips most of the day (except during lunch hours) so we could have a second breakfast. In fact we did not go hungry or thirsty at all as there was always something to eat or drink from the all inclusive package. Other reviewers have criticised the clientele likening them to guests on the Jeremy Kyle show and whilst that could be construed of a minority of people by far the majority of guests in the hotel were normal everyday people. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff very hard working although the facilities were a bit basic. After the first morning our restaurant experience improved as we came down to breakfast a bit earlier. The food earlier is hot and plentiful and there were plenty of tables. Nothing fancy on the menu except the salads which were to die for everything was tasty and more than edible. So tip number one is get down to breakfast/lunch/dinner early. There is a little train that runs every half an hour and takes you to the beach and is completely free. Well worth a visit. There is a supermarket right next door to the hotel and more shops further down the road. The entertainment is basic but the entertainment staff work hard and our little lad was occupied for the entire week as they had football daily and he's mad about football. My main criticism would be that there are signs everywhere, hand written and stuck to the walls with sellotape giving out rules, prices of extras, etc. It looks cheap and tacky. We did visit Barcelona for the day on an organised coach tour. Tip number 2) Don't. The tour we took was the Nou Camp and shopping. It gave you 2 hours at Camp Nou which is not long enough and drops you in the middle of Barcelona where you are left to your own devices. There was little to no commentary and several stops on the way to pick up other travellers. At 150 euros for the 3 of us it was a rip off. You can get a train into Barcelona from the station in Santa Susanna and make your own way to Camp Nou on public transport. All in all we enjoyed our holiday at Santa Susanna Resort. It gave us what we were expecting and made for a very relaxing week. We would return which brings me to tip number 3) You can book direct with the hotel for rooms and get flights cheaply with the budget airlines. Coach transfers from Barcelona airport to the resort are inexpensive. We booked through a travel agent but had we decided to book everything separately we could have knocked off around £100 from the price. Collapse
