Me and my mum went to Santa marina recently for a weekend break away. Hotel was in a fantastic location and so close to all the attractions. We got lost so many times, we used google maps to find out way around constantly. It’s like a maze Venice! Staff were friendly and we asked them to recommend a restaurant, which was lovely. The rooms were excellent and beautiful, we stayed in the junior suite, which looked out on the canal. We were made up as we were meant to stay in the annex ca’ marinella, but got upgraded for free. There was clean towels everyday and the room was clean. Free WiFi was also included, but a bit hit and miss at times. Breakfast was nice in the morning, with a mixture of sweet and savoury foods. Highly recommended anyone coming to Venice, as this is in an ideal location. Lovely visit! Collapse

Venice is a magical place and as we were celebrating a special birthday my comments have been moderated. The hotel is not 4 star but is a traditional type place with a nice ambience and very clean. . The welcome at reception was lukewarm but perhaps down to language issues. So many places make you feel they are doing you a favour letting you stay. The room 412 was a really good size and felt warm and welcoming with wood panels and nice decor. The shower was truly hot and cold and changed without warning from one extreme to another which we laughed about but could be a safety issue. There was lack of sockets for chargers but overall room was good. Plenty of storage space but no tea making facilities . Please note temperature can only be changed from reception which is a bit of an inconvenience!! Location of room was close to dining area which was ok but meant there was an early morning call with clunking pots and stifled conversation. Also in morning around 7/30 we were woken by deliveries on noisy trolleys passing our window. Whilst location good for sight seeing the campo Santa Marina is one of the most dismal squares in Venice. Thought breakfast was ok if a little bit crowded and everything self service and warm section just ok. Staff were mixed helpful but a bit surly . As mentioned earlier we had a great time but the hotel didn’t really add to the experience. Went as a package so can’t comment on value. Overall 3.7 out of 5! Collapse

The location of this hotel is absolutely fantastic. You can walk to the Rialto bridge in 5 minutes and San Marco in 15 mins. The location is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. One word of advice - if you are arriving late at night, as we did, and you don’t know Venice get a water taxi from the airport. It is expensive and costs €120 but it takes you right to the hotel - very convenient. The hotel is what it is - a dated 3 star hotel with some tired features but we were happy with what we paid for it. Our room was on the small side but adequate for sleeping. Breakfast is good enough and plentiful. Staff are pleasant and helpful. You will got lost in the narrow streets of Venice but it is great fun finding your way around. Collapse

Lovely hotel. Easy to get the main places St marks/ Rialto etc. I agree with Fletchworth ,Tea/Coffee facilities are basic things in hotels now.And the pillows were brick hard not to my liking.( rolled up a towel instead). Some people in reviews always go on about room sizes, and I agree they can range from hotel to hotel. But surely if there clean and tidy that's all that matters, your only sleeping and washing in them. I'm out seeing the places/cities I've travelled to see not sit in a hotel room. As for Venice it's self Fantastic , Take the public water boats to Murano (touristy) Burano such a lovely smaller island well worth going to. Venice is a tourist trap in certain respects if your countries currency isn't Euro's take plenty with you or use the atm machine's.Changing money is a rip off even in the banks.Your own bank charges may well be a lot less expensive.Check before you travel.Restaurants for every taste and price bracket some charge you a city tax and a service charge.( cheaper menu price) ,others say no city/service charge( more expensive menu).lol If you're a regular traveller you'll know what I mean . We always ask the locals where's the best places to eat/drink etc.,And read the reviews of places before we book them.Reviews are only the opinions of the people who write them( including me) in the end enjoy travelling that's why we do it. Hotel location is very good, you can get to most places in a few minutes. Venice is a labyrinth of small corridors and bridges, always make sure you take a map because it is very easy to take the wrong street. Hotel was clean and I booked one of the best rooms, which was very comfortable and there was a bottle of sparkling wine in the room when we arrived. Breakfast was very continental, nothing hot and they introduced this very awkward pancake/omelette style machine and it was like eating plastic, give that contraption a miss. Staff at reception were always friendly and helpful, anything you asked them they would direct you, forgot my charger and they guided me to an electronic store, so big thumbs up. There was some building works going on and two mornings we were woken up to building works. Collapse
