Great hotel in a good central location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very filling with lots of choice for everyone. We used the wellness centre nearly every day and we found this very relaxing. Ghent was a very pretty place to explore. We stayed on the older part of the hotel facing the courtyard - this was a very nice room. Collapse

If you are visiting this wonderful City (only 90 minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel) do stay here. The hotel has a great location on the Western edge of the historic centre, easy to park under the building or nearby, and walk around the cobbled streets. There is charging for Electric Vehicles in the hotel. We returned for a second visit last weekend. Particular highlights were the lovely staff here on reception and in the breakfast/bar area (they kindly stored fruit and veg we bought in the market, as well as baked goods, in the kitchen fridge) and when we ordered off menu at lunch rustled up delicious bowls of soup in no time. Also I forgot my jacket on the back of the chair after lunch and they returned it to my room promptly. We did not eat dinner here. I had the impression that some of the rooms on the front side of the property were undergoing renovation but we heard no disturbing noise. There is a modern extension through the gardens which has comfortable and light rooms. This time we stayed in a 'Cosy' room in the main building but which was big enough for a large king size double bed and a large shower, and had a nice view across the rooftops. The Wellness area is in a separate building in the garden. It is small but has a good sized sauna and relaxation area. There is also a small but well equipped gym. Breakfast was included in our room rate and the rolls and breads, and the jams, were excellent. Great for a couples' relaxing weekend. Collapse

The hotel was delightful with great decor which married both old and new together in a bright and inviting style. The bedroom was large and comfortable with slippers, robes, comfy chairs and the TV had BBC 1 and 2. The staff were charming and helpful. There were redecoration works being done on two floors and whilst not noisy where we were meant the lifts were always full of workmen and their tools etc. The breakfast was expensive and we were going out for lunch so didn't need a large feast so went to a cafe opposite which was delightful. We enjoyed the bar in the evening with a charming barman who mixed a wicked vodka martini. I would definitely recommend. Collapse

The hotel had a very late check in time which meant we couldn't get into the room before 3pm. No early check in option was offered despite arriving at 12.30pm. This meant we were unable to use the room as a much needed 'pit stop' during the day. The hotel is comfortable although tired looking. The room was comfortable and adequate. We had a sink in the bedroom with a separate shower room and separate bathroom. The small balcony was lovely to spend time on although we had to request hot water and tea cups as none were available in the room. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. We were very disappointed however to be woken up at 6.50am by work they have going on in one of the hotel wings which continued past 8am. There was a note of apology on the desk when we arrived but we did not expect to be woken by such loud banging and sawing so early in the morning. For the prices they charge and for being marketed as a luxury hotel, I expected better. Collapse

The hotel is situated just outside the historical city centre. It is just five minutes work to that area and a bus stop just outside the hotel. This hotel consists of an older building and a new building separated by a small garden there almost all rooms are. The rooms are quite spacious and many like our room also have a large balcony oriented towards the park between the two buildings. This little park was just beautiful and there are sitting possibilities for bar guest in it. The bed is large and very soft and comfortable. The bathroom is perfect with a large shower part, I always prefer a shower. It was also equipped with the two longest bathrobes that I have seen. Just wonderful. There is also a door to the toilet which separate it from the rest of the bathroom, very nice. It is actually the same door that is used for the entrance to the bathroom, very ingenious. Just one remark, the spotlights bordering to flood lights in the ceiling did look quite odd. The breakfast was included in our room price and was good but by no means exceptional. For example, there were no omelette cook as in great hotels, and the bread supply did not include any form of rye bread. And there was a real low point. The tea was just teabags and hot water and all the coffee was produced in a machine! I cannot understand this choice of the hotel management. There were also a spa department in a sperate, house in the garden that we did not use, but by many others. Collapse

We stayed here as part of a Tailor Made Rail trip to the Xmas markets in Ghent and Bruges, as well as seeing the Ghent Altarpiece and the Madonna in Bruges. About a 15 minute stroll from the cathedral, it is well-placed for tourism, and high quality, with excellent staff. Breakfasts are excellent too, and we enjoyed one meal in the restaurant. Would definitely stay again. Collapse
